ESL Pro League S20 Playoffs Bracket Set With Unlikely Quarterfinalist

As a seasoned Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) fan with years of esports under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the rise and fall of titans to the emergence of underdogs that shake the very foundations of the gaming world. The ESL Pro League Season 20 has been a wild rollercoaster ride so far, with unexpected twists and turns that have kept me on the edge of my seat!

For enthusiasts of Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports, it’s been an exhilarating journey! In Malta, no less than 32 top-tier teams from around the globe battled it out during the ESL Pro League Season 20 group stage. This epic encounter saw Danil “donk” Kryshkovets break the CS2 kill record on LAN, and some unexpected outcomes were also witnessed.

In the tournament, the defending champions and one of the global powerhouses, MOUZ, were surprisingly knocked out early; instead, a team ranked 27th worldwide (M80) seized the opportunity to lead Group C, earning a direct berth in the Quarterfinals, while teams like Astralis and MOUZ failed to advance.

16 teams have been knocked out, leaving us with the final 16 teams set to battle it out at ESL Pro League Season 20 from September 17th to 22nd, 2024. The playoffs adopt a single-elimination tournament structure, and all matches, except for the grand finale, are best-of-three series. However, the ultimate showdown will be a best-of-five encounter.
