Lamorne Morris Shouted Out Robert Downey Jr. (While Beating Him for an Emmy)

As a film enthusiast with a soft spot for charismatic actors who can deliver both comedic brilliance and dramatic depth, I must admit that Lamorne Morris has become one of my favorite discoveries in recent years. His Emmy win for Fargo was not only well-deserved but also marked an exciting milestone in his career.

At the 2024 Emmy Awards, Lamorne Morris, who is known for acting, podcasting, and guest hosting on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, received the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. This recognition came for his role in the fifth season of Fargo, where he starred alongside Juno Temple, Jon Hamm, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. In an unforgettable acceptance speech, Morris humorously mentioned his birth by saying “I dropped out of her butt.” He also expressed his love to his daughter Lily, saying “I told you I would do it,” hinting at past doubts she may have had about him.

Morris enthusiastically acknowledged his fellow nominees, particularly Robert Downey Jr. from “The Sympathizer”, exclaiming, “I have a poster of you in my home! Sign it, please.” When Downey found out he was gracing Morris’s walls, he gave a triumphant fist pump. It seems getting that poster autographed is imminent. However, one may wonder which project the poster represents – could it be “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”, “Chaplin”, or perhaps an episode of “SNL” during season 11? To find out for sure, we’ve contacted Morris’s representatives.
