AMC Theatres Sets Thanksgiving Weekend Limited Release for Luis Fonsi Romantic Comedy ‘Say a Little Prayer’

As a passionate follower of independent films and Latin music, this news about Luis Fonsi’s debut indie romcom “Say A Little Prayer” has me absolutely thrilled! Having grown up with a mix of cultures and being an avid fan of both Latin music and indie films, I’ve often found myself yearning for more diverse content that truly resonates with my experiences.

The independent romantic comedy “Say A Little Prayer,” produced by Luis Fonsi, has struck a distribution agreement with AMC Theatres. This arrangement means that the film will be shown simultaneously in about 100 theaters across major U.S. markets during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

As a dedicated cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that AMC, our country’s leading cinema chain, has secured a deal with New Cadence Productions, the producers of the upcoming film “Say A Little Prayer.” This movie is set to be the big-screen debut for none other than Fonsi, the international Latin music sensation famous for his 2017 chart-topper “Despacito.” I can hardly wait!

This agreement represents another instance where exhibitors are deviating from tradition by striking distribution agreements directly with independent filmmakers. The movie will gain visibility through trailers shown in cinemas, with promotional backing from the Spanish-speaking broadcasting company, SBS.

As a film enthusiast who’s always got an ear to the ground for the next big hit, I can confidently say that aligning with ‘Say A Little Prayer’ was a seamless choice for us. The melodious tunes of Luis Fonsi have been a regular fixture on our airwaves, and with stations in Miami, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico under our belt, we’re no strangers to his rhythmic charm.

Film producer Cristina Nava admitted that her company, Migrant Filmworks, usually follows traditional methods for film distribution. However, she often finds the outcomes to be unsatisfactory.

For several years, New Cadence, a production company led by Jeff Valdez (a creative multi-tasker) and Sol Trujillo (a seasoned corporate leader), have been diligently constructing independent distribution networks specifically tailored to share Latino-themed content with American audiences of Latin descent.

In response to New Cadence suggesting a data-driven, ‘New Mainstream’ strategy that advantages all parties, Nava commented that this seemed like the correct path – not just for the current film, but also for fostering a fairer future in movie distribution.

Discussion about the deal with AMC Theatres will happen on September 14, during the panel session that Fonsi and others are participating in, which takes place at the L’Attitude annual conference in San Diego. This event highlights Latino leadership and entrepreneurship across various business industries. Notably, Fonsi is scheduled to perform at the conference, coinciding with the premiere of the “Say A Little Prayer” trailer that same evening.

The romantic comedy is helmed by Patrick Perez Vidauri in terms of direction, penned by Nancy De Los Santos, and brought to life by Nava under Migrant Filmworks’ production banner. New Cadence Productions assumes an executive role in its creation, while handling the distribution duties for this production.
