Cavs’ NBA 2K25 ratings that are 100% wrong

As a lifelong gamer and die-hard Cavaliers fan who has spent countless hours on the virtual hardwood of NBA 2K, I can’t help but feel a mix of frustration and disbelief at the latest ratings for my beloved team in NBA 2K25.

In this article, we’ll discuss the recently released installment of the widely acclaimed NBA2K video game series, named NBA 2K25. This latest edition is now accessible to basketball enthusiasts globally, enabling them to don their sneakers and join their favorite NBA players on the court. However, supporters of the Cleveland Cavaliers might find themselves disheartened by the ratings assigned to some of their beloved players, particularly all-star guard Donovan Mitchell. Is it possible that the game developers underestimated Mitchell? Let’s explore this further, considering other notable Cavs stars like Evan Mobley and Darius Garland as well.

Donovan Mitchell’s rating (92) is laughable

Throughout the entire season, Donovan Mitchell consistently demonstrated his exceptional abilities as a shooting guard and one of the NBA’s elite overall players. Some people might even rank him among the top ten players. Yet, it seems the creators of NBA 2K25 have a different opinion.

Mitchell is the 14th-ranked player overall, positioned between Jaylen Brown and Jalen Brunson. Brunson is followed by Anthony Edwards, Devin Booker, and Anthony Davis who are slightly ahead of Brunson. Although Edwards, Booker, and Davis have advanced further in the playoffs and Davis even won a championship, they don’t come close to matching Mitchell’s prowess.

Mitchell shares the same role as Edwards and Booker, but statistically, he exceeds their performance. Moreover, Mitchell has never lost to either of them in direct matches, with a 10-8 record against Edwards (2 wins and 2 losses) and an 8-6 record against Booker. It’s also worth mentioning that Mitchell has attended more playoff games and All-Star events than both players.

Hey there! As a dedicated fan, I’ve got to say something seems off at the NBA 2K25 headquarters. Once again, Davis has got a solid case for being ranked higher than Mitchell, considering his championship ring. Plus, when it comes to individual honors, Davis clearly takes the lead. It’s just absurd, really, that they’ve left Mitchell out of the top ten in NBA 2k25. This oversight should definitely be corrected as soon as the regular season starts.

NBA 2k25 is discounting the ability of  Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and the Cavs

Cavs’ NBA 2K25 ratings that are 100% wrong

Upon examining Cleveland’s digital roster rankings, there appears to be an incongruity. It’s understandable that Mitchell is at the summit – he is undeniably the Cavaliers’ top player and, as you can see, among the elite in the NBA. However, as we delve deeper into the list, things seem a bit puzzling.

Immediately following Mitchell, we find Evan Mobley, and indeed, the order seems appropriate. To put it simply, Mobley serves as Miles Morales to Mitchell’s Peter Parker in this context. Interestingly, Mobley’s overall rating of 86 in the latest NBA 2K version is exactly the same as it was in NBA 2K24, and only slightly higher than his 84 overall rating from his sophomore season in NBA 2K23.

As a gamer, I’d say it’s downright unbelievable to suggest that Mobley has only slightly stepped up his game since his impressive rookie season. The league itself recognizes his elite defensive skills in the paint. Yet, it seems they’re overlooking his significant strides as a playmaker and emerging threat from beyond the arc.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel that the developers might boost Mobley’s offensive stats when they witness him in Coach Kenny Atkinson’s system. However, these are mere nitpicks compared to Garland, who is an astounding 82 overall in NBA 2K25, even outshining Cleveland’s reserve players.

Despite the game acknowledging Garland’s playmaking abilities and three-point shooting skills, it seems like a significant drop in his status. When NBA 2K24 was released, Garland was rated 86 overall and was highly regarded as one of the top point guards in the game. Admittedly, he faced injuries and inconsistency last season. However, suggesting that he’s at the same level as Caris LeVert, Cleveland’s sixth man, appears to be an exaggeration or misrepresentation of his current skills.

Furthermore, according to the rankings of NBA 2K25, Garland is comparable to Jalen Suggs, Alex Caruso, and Coby White. However, while these players are reliable team members, they are primarily role-players, which isn’t the case with Garland. Similar to Mobley, Garland will shine more under Atkinson’s system. But this season, Garland is set for a comeback, and he should prove NBA 2K25 wrong about their assessment of him.
