Filmmaker Jason Reitman, who has been nominated for an Academy Award, along with his frequent collaborator, cinematographer Eric Steelberg, will be honored with the third annual EbMaster Creative Collaborators award at Virginia’s Middleburg Film Festival in October.
The accolade is designed to recognize their joint efforts in movies like “Juno,” “Up in the Air,” “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and the soon-to-be-released “Saturday Night.
The head of the Middleburg Film Festival, Susan Koch, expressed her excitement about teaming up with EbMaster for the Creative Collaborators Award yet again. She stated that this year’s winners, Jason and Eric, are truly worthy of the recognition. “Saturday Night” is an exceptional film that brilliantly highlights their long-standing partnership, which has resulted in numerous iconic films over the years. Koch also mentioned her anticipation for Jason’s return to Middleburg and her joy that Eric will be accompanying him to provide our audience with a peek into their collaborative workings.
On October 19th, Jazz Tangcay – senior editor at EbMaster’s arts division – will lead a discussion. This talk aims to provide an overview of their career, focusing on their long-standing friendship and collaboration. Additionally, the film “Saturday Night” will be screened during the festival that takes place from October 17th through the 20th.
Tangcay stated, “The Creative Collaborators series highlights the strength of teamwork. Jason often relies on Eric for bringing his filmmaking ideas to life, from ‘Juno’ to ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife,’ and now the eagerly awaited ‘Saturday Night.’ They’ve honed a unique approach and rhythm in their work, which I’m excited to learn more about.
