The initial announcement for the one-camera comedy pilot was made at the broadcasting network in August. This series is inspired by a short story penned by Katherine Heiny. In essence, the show revolves around a setting that most people fear visiting: the Department of Motor Vehicles. Our unique and endearing characters are stuck earning minimum wage, performing a thankless job where customers seem already irritated upon entering. Fortunately, they have each other to lean on.
In this production, Meadows will be portraying the character of Gregg. This individual was once a high school English teacher and is now known for swiftly conducting driving tests. He’s keen on wrapping up the day as quickly as he can. With an uncanny knack for precise observations about others, Gregg carries a sardonic demeanor, suggesting a sense of disappointment or disillusionment. His ultimate dream is to retire peacefully.
Chris Meadows is primarily recognized for his long stint on “Saturday Night Live,” where he served as a cast member for an impressive ten seasons. In this period, he frequently portrayed the character Leon Phelps, popularly known as “The Ladies Man.” This role led him to co-star and co-write the film adaptation titled “The Ladies Man” in 2000. Beyond his SNL fame, Meadows has also graced the big screen in movies such as “Mean Girls,” “Grown Ups,” “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping,” and “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.” He is also widely recognized for his roles as John Glascott in ABC’s comedy series “The Goldbergs” and its spinoff “Schooled.” Additionally, he has made notable appearances on television shows like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “The Office,” and “Miracle Workers.
