Lady Gaga Confronts College Facebook Group That Said She’d ‘Never Be Famous’: You ‘Gotta Keep Going’ When ‘People Doubt You’

As a cinema devotee who has seen my fair share of rags-to-riches stories, Lady Gaga‘s journey from being dismissed by her college peers to becoming a globally recognized icon is nothing short of inspiring. Having grown up with dreams of stardom myself, I can only imagine the determination it must have taken for her to keep going when faced with such skepticism.

On Wednesday, Lady Gaga reflected on her modest beginnings, acknowledging a Facebook group that some of her fellow students at New York University had created and later deleted, titled “Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous.” Photos of this group, which refers to her by her given name, have been shared among fans for quite a while online.

Lady Gaga addressed the rumors about the group in a public manner by commenting on a TikTok post. The initial post compared a picture of a 12-member Facebook group with a rundown of Gaga’s numerous achievements, such as an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, 13 Grammy Awards, 10 Billboard Music Awards, and 18 MTV Video Music Awards.

People I attended college alongside created this at one point, as Lady Gaga mentioned in a post. It’s a reminder that you shouldn’t quit when others question your abilities or belittle you; instead, persevere.

Before launching her first studio album “The Fame,” Lady Gaga studied at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She left NYU in 2005, instead focusing on performing at New York nightclubs and crafting her stage presence.

Joaquin Phoenix, along with Lady Gaga and director Todd Phillips, unveiled their sequel to the comic book “Joker” titled “Joker: Folie à Deux” at the Venice Film Festival. Following its debut, the movie received a prolonged standing ovation. The film is set to be released in theaters on October 4th.

In an interview with EbMaster for a feature on the film, Gaga stated that Todd’s approach to the ‘Joker’ sequel was incredibly bold and intricate. He blended music, dance, drama, courtroom drama, comedy, and elements of both happiness and sadness, making it a remarkable display of Todd’s directing skills. Instead of following a conventional love story, Todd opted for an imaginative narrative.
