Tim Robinson Comedy ‘Chair Company’ Picked Up to Series at HBO

As a dedicated follower of Tim Robinson‘s comedic journey, I couldn’t be more thrilled about HBO’s decision to greenlight “The Chair Company.” Having seen his exceptional work on “Saturday Night Live,” “Detroiters,” and “I Think You Should Leave,” it’s clear that he and Zach Kanin have a knack for creating hilarious, engaging content. The fact that this project has won Emmys and garnered critical acclaim is no surprise to me.

HBO has officially greenlit “The Chair Company,” a comedic series headlined and jointly created by Tim Robinson.

The project initially got started when it was first introduced along with a preliminary order in April. Together, Robinson and Zach Kanin developed this series, while they both also took on the roles of executive producers.

“Following a humiliating event at his workplace, a man named Robinson uncovers a vast and intricate web of conspiracy.

In this production, Robinson takes on the role of William Ronald Trosper. Alongside him, Lake Bell portrays Barb Trosper, Sophia Lillis plays Natalie Trosper, Will Price is cast as Seth Trosper, and Joseph Tudisco appears as Mike Santini. Lou Diamond Phillips makes a special appearance in the pilot episode as Jeff Levjman.

In partnership with Robinson and Kanin, Adam McKay and Todd Schulman serve as executive producers for “The Chair Company”, under their production company HyperObject Industries. Igor Srubshchik is another executive producer, while Andrew DeYoung takes on both the roles of executive producer and director for the pilot episode.

Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President of HBO & Max Comedy Programming, praised William Ronald Trosper’s character portrayal as uniquely marked by Tim and Zach. She stated that he continues the powerful lineage of leading characters in HBO comedies. Her joy is immense as she officially announces the acquisition of this highly entertaining series,” said a paraphrased version of the original statement.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that this week, HBO added another comedic gem to their collection by picking up a series from its pilot. Interestingly, HBO has also given the go-ahead to a yet-to-be-titled comedy project from the brilliant Rachel Sennott, one of the creators and stars of “Bottoms.

Robinson and Kanin expressed their enthusiasm and gratitude for being able to produce this show alongside HBO, HyperObject, as well as an incredible team of cast and crew members who contributed significantly to its creation.

Additionally, they produced the Netflix sketch comedy series “I Think You Should Leave,” where Robinson also starred. The former show received an Emmy for best short-form series in 2023, while Robinson has previously won two Emmys for his performance in a short-form series.

Robinson is represented by CAA, Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment, and lawyer Melissa Fox. On the other hand, Kanin is represented by WME and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. (Paraphrased to make it clearer that ‘represented’ means the same for both parties, and to provide a more conversational tone.)
