One Of The Witcher 3's Endings Has Been Restored By A Fan Mod

As a seasoned Witcher fan who’s spent countless hours traversing the Continent, I must say that this recent revelation about lost moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s ending has me all a-quiver like a griffin on a hunt! MerigoldMariobor’s mod not only adds depth to Geralt and Ciri’s emotional reunion but also gives us a glimpse into the future of the series.

Next year marks the tenth anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and it seems this classic game still holds a few hidden stories to share. A dedicated fan modder, MerigoldMariobor, has uncovered some missing dialogue fragments from one of the game’s endings, and recently released a mod that adds more resolution for Geralt and Ciri’s storyline.

According to IGN, the game ends on a positive note for Geralt and Ciri when he gives her a Witcher’s sword, symbolizing her role as a fellow Witcher. However, there were two missed lines of dialogue that would have made the scene more impactful. Initially, Ciri reacts to receiving a Witcher’s blade, followed by her and Geralt discussing their future plans, which could involve reuniting with either Yennefer or Triss, based on Geralt’s romantic choice in the game. The video below incorporates these missing lines into the storyline.

As a die-hard gamer engrossed in The Witcher 3, Blood and Wine seemed to tie up Geralt’s adventures neatly. Now, it’s been announced that The Witcher 4 is on the horizon, leading me to ponder if Geralt’s tale has indeed reached its end. If so, it feels fitting that Ciri might step into the limelight as the main character in the next installment. For now, this is all speculation, but CD Projekt Red recently hinted that Geralt will take a backseat in the upcoming game.

CD Projekt Red hasn’t announced a release date for The Witcher 4 yet, but they expanded their development team towards the end of 2023, indicating increased activity on the project. It’s uncertain when exactly The Witcher 4 will come out, but it seems reasonable to expect that it will launch on current-generation consoles. In the interim, look forward to the release of The Witcher Season 4 featuring Liam Hemsworth as Geralt in 2025.
