As a long-time fan of the League of Legends universe and a connoisseur of animated series, I can hardly contain my excitement for this year’s LightBox Expo! The prospect of getting an exclusive sneak peek into the artistry behind Arcane Season 2 is simply breathtaking.
Today, LightBox Expo – a three-day gathering focusing on entertainment and art – revealed its exciting schedule. Highlights include a showcase of artwork from Season 2 of Arcane, the popular Netflix series spun off from League of Legends.
Join us in exploring the universe of Arcane: League of Legends, through this fascinating discussion on the creativity and skill that went into making the Emmy-winning animated series. This panel will be led by Arnaud-Loris Baudry, a production designer and concept artist at Riot Games, along with other experts, who will delve into the art and design processes, discussing the technical and artistic hurdles encountered while adapting the intricate game lore for Arcane.
Last year’s gathering attracted approximately 15,000 participants, and from October 25th to the 27th, the Pasadena Convention Center is set to play host to this event once more. Notable figures from Disney, Netflix, Illumination, Pixar, Laika, Sony Pictures Animation, Dreamworks, Skydance Animation, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, and Marvel Animation will lead a series of 200 hours filled with presentations, demonstrations, discussions, workshops, and other activities.
According to Chris Sanders, known for his work in animation and soon-to-be director of Dreamworks’ movie The Wild Robot, LightBox Expo serves as a source of inspiration for him. He considers it one of the most impressive gatherings of comic, film, game, and graphic artists anywhere!
In simple terms, while Season 2 marks the end of the main League of Legends series, its creators are considering additional stories set in the world of Runeterra, potentially as spin-offs.
Christian Linke stated back in June that “Arcane” is merely the start of our larger narrative and collaboration with the exceptional animation studio, Fortiche. From the outset, as we delved into this project, we had a particular conclusion in mind, thus season two of “Arcane” concludes the story. However, “Arcane” represents the first of numerous tales that we intend to spin within Runeterra.
Season 2 of Arcane hits Netflix this November.
