As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that Dead Island 2: Ultimate Edition is a must-have addition to any zombie-slaying enthusiast’s collection. Having weathered countless delays and development woes, this undead RPG has emerged from the depths of “dev hell” like a well-armed zombie ready for battle.
2021 was a blast for gamers, with an avalanche of amazing games hitting both PCs and consoles. Among them was the unexpected arrival of Dead Island 2, a game that’s been stuck in limbo for what felt like forever. Despite not being a Game of the Year contender, it didn’t disappoint when it came to its charming quirks. If you’ve been eagerly waiting to jump into the zombie-slaying action, get ready! The Dead Island 2: Ultimate Edition is coming your way on October 22 for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Preorders are open now, so grab it for $70 and enjoy the base game along with a mountain of additional content!
2023 called, and they’re sending over Dead Island 2 – a hilarious, gory, first-person romp set in zombie-infested LA! If you missed it when it dropped, now’s your chance to jump in. It may have its quirks, but the fun and engaging gameplay make it one of the top 7/10 games of the year, in my book. So buckle up, grab your weapons, and let’s see if we can take back the city!
In his review for TopMob on Dead Island 2, Mark Delaney stated that games often stuck in “development limbo” typically emerge in a form that nobody would want to play, if they come out at all. However, Dambuster Studios seems to have effectively overcome a decade’s worth of development issues related to Dead Island 2, as if shaking off a zombie trying to attack it. This has resulted in an undead RPG that, while imperfect, is still enjoyable and even creative.
