As a veteran gamer who has spent countless hours sneaking around shadows and tackling global threats alongside Solid Snake, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension upon hearing that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 is on its way. After the rocky launch of Volume 1 last year, I’m eager to see Konami learn from their mistakes and deliver a smoother experience this time around.
Following the launch of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 on contemporary consoles and PCs last year, it was only a matter of time before Konami announced a second volume. Now, it’s official that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 is in development, but the MGS team is keeping tight-lipped about which games will be part of the collection.
According to Eurogamer, Noriaki Okamura, the producer of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, mentioned Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 in a video discussing the remake of MGS 3. Okamura admitted that there were problems when Vol. 1 was first released, and he stressed that the team is working diligently to make sure that Vol. 2 launches more smoothly.
Okamura confirmed that Volume 2 is indeed in production, without a doubt. However, given the rocky debut of Volume 1, they are taking extra precautions to avoid similar problems. They humbly request patience from everyone as they work diligently on it.
Okamura didn’t reveal which games are included in the upcoming collection, although he hinted at Metal Gear Solid 4 possibly being a part of it last month. So far, MGS 4 has only been released on the PlayStation 3, making it exclusive to that platform. However, both parts of Metal Gear Solid V, Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, were available across multiple consoles and PC. It’s likely that these titles, along with the HD version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (previously released on PS3 and Xbox 360) will be included in the collection. But since Konami hasn’t confirmed the lineup yet, we can only guess for now.
