Pokemon Go Dynamax Guide: Max Battles, How To Get Max Particles, And More

As a seasoned Pokemon Go trainer with over a decade of experience under my belt, I must say that the Max Out season has truly taken the game to new heights! The introduction of Dynamaxing is nothing short of revolutionary, and it’s a testament to how Niantic continues to innovate and bring elements from the mainline games into the mobile realm.

In the latest update of Pokemon Go, dubbed the Max Out season, one of the major novelties is Dynamaxing – a feature initially presented in Pokemon Sword and Shield. When a Pokemon undergoes Dynamaxing, it grows to an enormous size, receiving a power surge and gaining access to special moves for use during combat.

Just as some characteristics vary across different versions of the main Pokemon games, Dynamaxing functions differently in Pokemon Go compared to Sword and Shield. Here’s a simplified guide on how to gather Max Particles and Dynamax your creatures in Pokemon Go:

Which Pokemon can Dynamax?

In the realm of Pokemon Go, unlike my adventure in Pokemon Sword and Shield where almost every creature can Dynamax, I’ve noticed that only a chosen few of these pocket monsters have the ability to undergo this massive transformation.

Essentially, only Pokemon caught in Max Raids or near Power Spots can be Dynamaxed, implying that your current Pokemon cannot undergo this transformation. To identify if a Pokemon can Dynamax, look for the Dynamax icon on its information screen.

In summary, Pokemon found near Power Spots have the ability to Dynamax, as do those encountered during Max Battles. Additionally, you can obtain a few Dynamax Pokemon by finishing the “To The Max” Special Research quest given at the beginning of each season.

How to get Max Particles

To make your Pokemon Dynamax, you initially need a fresh kind of energy called Max Particles. You can acquire these particles by finishing the “To the Max” Special Research task or by engaging with Power Spots scattered across the map. Additionally, you can buy Max Particles from the in-game shop within Pokemon Go.

Max Battles

After gathering the necessary number of Max Particles, you can dynamax a compatible Pokémon by taking part in a Max Battle, which is a brand-new kind of raid that takes place at specific power points.

To join a Max Battle, it requires spending a specific number of Max Particles, determined by the raid boss’s power. During the fight, your Pokemon’s Max Meter at the screen’s top gradually fills up. Once the meter is completely filled, your Pokemon will Dynamax for three turns, enabling you to utilize Max Moves throughout this transformation phase.

As a gamer, when I triumph over the raid boss, I’ll snag a bunch of rewards, including the opportunity to capture the Dynamax Pokémon I just clashed swords with. Plus, I can station one of my own Dynamax Pokémon at that Power Spot to gather candy and help out other players taking on Max Battles there, boosting their damage output!

Max Moves

In their transformed state, Dynamax Pokemon gain unique abilities called Max Moves. Each Dynamax Pokemon initially possesses one Max Move, the type of which corresponds to the Pokemon’s Quick Attack. By utilizing candies and Max Particles, you can enhance your Dynamax Pokemon and acquire two extra Max Moves: Max Spirit and Max Guard.

In the heat of combat, Max Spirit serves as a healing move, restoring health not just for your own Pokemon but also for your fellow fighters. On the contrary, Max Guard is a protective move that lessens the amount of harm you receive from the raid boss. Both moves can be enhanced by leveling them up to boost their impact.
