Paramount Content Licensing Chief Dan Cohen to Give Keynote at Mipcom

As a seasoned cinephile with decades of immersion in the intricate tapestry of global cinema, I eagerly anticipate Dan Cohen’s keynote speech at Mipcom this Fall. His extensive experience and the breadth of his responsibilities within Paramount make him an authority whose insights into worldwide content licensing strategy are not to be missed.

Dan Cohen, who holds the position of Chief Content Licensing Officer at Paramount and President of Republic Pictures, has been scheduled to deliver a key address at Mipcom in Cannes this coming autumn.

At the 40th Content Market happening from October 21st to 24th in France, Cohen will deliver a keynote speech as a media expert. This event will occur at the grand auditorium located inside Cannes’ well-known Palais des Festival on October 22nd.

His talk is going to offer perspectives on creating a global content licensing plan for a large production company, as well as introducing some secret guests, whose identities remain undisclosed at this time.

Cohen manages the process of leasing out Paramount’s vast collection of content, encompassing productions from CBS, The CW, Paramount+ combined with Showtime, as well as television shows from Paramount Pictures, CBS Studios, CBS News, CBS Media Ventures, MTV Entertainment Studios, Nickelodeon, Miramax, and external collaborators.

Since March 2023, he has served as president of Republic Pictures, where his leadership has rejuvenated Paramount Global through projects like “Blackberry,” a drama based on the story of the world’s first popular internet-enabled phone, and the apocalyptic thriller “The End We Start From” starring Jodie Comer. In addition to these, Republic Pictures has unveiled other productions. Most recently, they premiered “September 5” at the Venice Film Festival this month.

Lucy Smith, Mipcom director, stated that “Dan Cohen manages one of the largest collections of licensing rights in the Entertainment industry.” She further added that Paramount’s vast array of brands and distribution channels, coupled with their dedication to third-party licensing, is unparalleled. A meeting with Dan Cohen provides a unique opportunity to learn about creativity and monetization strategies, benefiting from his extensive years of experience in the international scene where he has consistently adapted to emerging technologies, audience trends, and market opportunities. We are delighted to have him back in Cannes once more.

Cohen stated: “Mipcom Cannes has always been an essential part of our yearly sales cycle in the rapidly evolving global content licensing industry. It’s a privilege to be giving a keynote speech at this significant 40th edition of the market, as it offers a valuable chance for our international team to meet and collaborate with our clients.

This fall, Paramount will not only maintain its market presence but also host the global debut of the upcoming CBS Studios series “Watson” on October 20th. This series is based on characters from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes mysteries. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A session.
