John Cena Talks ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 and Teaming Up With SpongeBob for ‘Brawl Stars’ Video Game

As a long-time fan of both John Cena and SpongeBob SquarePants, I must say this collaboration between Supercell’s Brawl Stars and Nickelodeon’s iconic cartoon feels like a match made in heaven!

Actor John Cena recently contributed his skills to an advertising project for Supercell’s mobile game, “Brawl Stars.” This new venture includes a partnership with Nickelodeon’s “SpongeBob SquarePants,” which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Despite the unconventional pick for the Paramount-Supercell partnership promotion, Cena clarified to EbMaster why he’s a suitable candidate. He highlighted his enthusiasm for mobile gaming and his background with WWE, which aligns him well to spearhead promotions for the “SpongeBob” collaboration.

As a passionate cinephile, I can’t help but feel excited when I hear the general manager of “Brawl Stars” at Supercell, Frank Keienburg, talking about their decision. They saw an opportunity to tap into the nostalgia and honor the timeless charm of two iconic characters that we all adore.

Keienburg stated, “The show ‘SpongeBob Squarepants’ frequently interacts with the audience and brings in famous personalities across its run. To make our collaboration more intriguing and exciting for everyone involved, we wanted to invite someone who is a dedicated fan of Supercell games, well-liked by our players, and has a connection with ‘SpongeBob’ and WWE. Many of our gamers watched ‘SpongeBob’ as kids and admired John’s career in wrestling and acting, and his enthusiasm really resonates with us.

Regarding the integration of Supercell’s “Brawl Stars” with “SpongeBob,” Cena hinted at a significant transformation happening in the game starting from now and lasting till October 2nd.

“For the next month, ‘Brawl Stars’ becomes a whole new world,” Cena said. “It’s almost like invaded by the ‘SpongeBob ‘universe. So if you’re a familiar player, that’s cool to bring out new challenges, new power-ups. That’s a trial and error process. You might lose a few testing the waters, but hopefully you get the proficiency and start kicking some butt. There’s some great new characters, new gameplay.”

John Cena isn’t just busy pushing his latest “Brawl Stars” collaboration with Bikini Bottom; he’s also filming Season 2 of James Gunn’s “Peacemaker”. However, he’s keeping quiet about the storyline or when we can expect the return of Max.

I’m currently working through things. This is the most honest response I can provide without any unwanted consequences, such as losing my job. On a personal level, I’m extremely satisfied with the situation, and I hope this positive vibe reaches everyone eagerly waiting for updates.

He provides a slightly extended explanation when asked about the duration since the start, particularly focusing on James Gunn and Peter Safran’s management of the DC Universe under Warner Bros. Discovery following the airing of “Peacemaker” in early 2022.

Essentially, Cena clarified that as the actor who portrays Peacemaker, he’s delighted about the show’s success on Max. However, a change in leadership at DC required James Gunn and Peter Safran to take some time to ensure a quality follow-up. Despite the wait, everyone involved is eager to deliver more of the popular universe. Now that they’re filming, it feels like Season 2 won’t be far off.
