Jorge Ramos Picks CAA to Plot Career Following Univision Exit (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a deep appreciation for journalism, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe and admiration when I reflect on Jorge Ramos‘s illustrious career. With over four decades at Univision, he has proven himself to be a titan in Spanish-language news. His tenacity, integrity, and unwavering commitment to truth have not only earned him the respect of his peers but also the loyalty of millions of viewers.

Jorge Ramos, who might be departing from Univision, is not keen on abandoning the media sector altogether. Instead, he intends to stay involved in it.

After announcing on Monday his intentions to step down from his roles at Univision’s “Noticero Univision” and “Il Punto” following the 2024 presidential election, Ramos has chosen CAA as his professional representative for the upcoming stages of his career. In a statement released on Monday, he clarified that this is not a goodbye, but rather a transition. He plans to continue anchoring Noticiero Univision until December, after which he will disclose further details about his future professional endeavors. Ramos expressed deep gratitude for the past four decades spent at Univision and takes pride in being part of a team that has demonstrated strong leadership throughout the years.

The Communications Agency has formed connections with notable news presenters such as George Stephanopoulos from ABC News, and Brian Williams, the ex-anchor of NBC News and MSNBC who joined the agency in 2023 to guide him through prospective ventures following his departure from NBCUniversal-affiliated networks.

For approximately four decades, Ramos has been the host of “Noticero Univision.” He’s penned a dozen books and garnered ten Emmy Awards. One of his books, titled “The Way I See Things,” is a collection of Spanish-language columns spanning from 1982 to 2023, offering insights into Ramos’s career progression as a journalist, parent, and commentator. In the year 2002, he established “Despierta Leyendo,” often recognized as the first book club on Hispanic television history.

Throughout his professional journey, Ramos stood up against power when it seemed to obstruct the sharing of facts with his audience. In 1983, during the initial phase of his journalistic career, he resigned from a position at a news magazine for a Grupo Televisa station when he suspected that his report was being suppressed.

In 2023, Ramos was part of the team at Univision News who opposed the company’s decision to air an interview with Trump conducted at his Mar-A-Lago residence. This interview raised concerns among Democrats and Latino advocacy groups because it was partially organized by Univision’s business executives. Critics have questioned why Enrique Acevedo, the Univision correspondent, did not press Trump more forcefully during the interview or correct him when he made inaccurate statements on camera.

Ramos has advocated for a stronger presence of Spanish-speaking media in interactions with significant American politicians. He’s questioned lawmakers about immigration policies, a crucial matter for his audience, and experienced unexpected prominence in 2015 when he tried to interview Donald Trump, who was then a candidate. Trump, known for sharing Ramos’ phone number on social media, notoriously had Ramos removed from a press conference in Iowa, but later allowed him back.
