Brendan Gleeson Officially Joins Spider-Man Noir Series at Amazon (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a penchant for unraveling the intricacies of storytelling and character development, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the news that Brendan Gleeson is set to star in “Spider-Noir.” With his extensive resume spanning both television and film, Gleeson has proven time and again his versatility and knack for bringing even the most complex characters to life.

The news is confirmed: Brendan Gleeson will star in a significant part of the forthcoming ‘Spider-Man Noir’ live-action series on Amazon.

According to EbMaster’s report in July, it was revealed that Gleeson would join the cast, and now his participation has been officially confirmed. Although specifics about Gleeson’s character are being kept secret, it is rumored that he will portray the primary antagonist of the show.>

Gleeson is set to join Nicholas Cage in the upcoming series “Spider-Noir”. Alongside them, actors such as Lamorne Morris, Abraham Popoola, and Li Jun Li will also be part of the cast. As we previously mentioned, the show will first air on MGM+’s traditional channel within the U.S., followed by a worldwide release on Amazon Prime Video.

As stated in the official summary, the series “recounts the tale of a weary and hard-luck private investigator (Cage) living in 1930s New York, who is compelled to confront his past as the city’s lone superhero.

This new project signifies one of Gleeson’s initial announcements since his Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated performance in “The Banshees of Inisherin.” Apart from his praised performances in films, Gleeson has been a significant presence on television shows recently. Some of these include the crime drama “Mr. Mercedes,” an adaptation of Stephen King’s Bill Hodges novel series, and the Showtime miniseries “The Comey Rule,” where he portrayed President Donald Trump. Gleeson also received an Emmy in 2009 for his role as Winston Churchill in the TV movie “Into the Storm.” In movies, besides “Banshees of Inisherin,” he is well-known for roles in films like “In Bruges,” “The Guard,” “Cavalry,” various “Harry Potter” installments, “Braveheart,” and “Gangs of New York.

He is repped by CAA, The Agency, and Principle Entertainment.

The series titled ‘Spider-Noir’ originated from Uziel and Lightfoot who are not only co-showrunners but also executive producers. They collaboratively developed the series alongside the creators of ‘Into the Spider-Verse’, Lord, Miller, and Pascal. All four will serve as executive producers. Bradbeer will be an executive producer, directing the first two episodes. Pascal produces via Pascal Pictures, with Lord and Miller producing via Lord Miller. Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios are jointly responsible for its production, with Lord Miller currently under a deal at Sony.

Spider-Noir” is the second project, unveiled under an alliance between Amazon and Sony, for creating stories based on Spider-Man characters owned by Sony. Earlier, there was “Silk: Spider Society,” which initially received approval in 2022; however, it was shared in May that this show wouldn’t progress at Amazon.
