Bungie Is Celebrating 10 Years Of Destiny 2 With A Long-Unattainable Armor Set

As a seasoned Guardian with thousands of hours logged in Destiny, today’s 10th anniversary celebration feels like a homecoming. The return of the original concept armor sets and the tantalizing tease of the Icebreaker Exotic sniper rifle have me reminiscing about my first raid and the countless fireteam victories since then.

Today is the 10th anniversary of Destiny, and Bungie is commemorating by unveiling more information about the game’s upcoming era, as well as offering immediate rewards for players starting now. The festivities commence with a wardrobe raid, allowing players to acquire armor sets for each class that are modeled after the original concept armor pieces from Destiny. These iconic armor sets, among the first ever publicly displayed, can be obtained by exploring the environs of the old Tower in The Pale Heart.

An additional exciting endeavor awaits, which is a fresh set of objectives to accomplish and achieve the Legend status and badge. Some of these goals include finishing The Final Shape campaign on Legend mode, but if you’ve already accomplished this, it will be automatically marked as complete on your list. Pursuing the Legend title has its advantages – obtaining it prior to Episode: Echoes’ conclusion will grant players early access to pre-order the Nerf edition of the Ace of Spades hand cannon replica before its official release in October. This deal also includes a unique Ace of Spades Nerf weapon ornament within the game, an item that will also be available for purchase in the in-game store when Episode: Revenant debuts.

Bungie hinted at the comeback of a well-loved Exotic sniper gun, Icebreaker, in an imminent Dungeon launch. The original Icebreaker was intimidating to be on the receiving end of because its bullets transformed anyone hit into a living explosive device. However, it had an unusual trait too. The Icebreaker boasted self-refilling ammunition, and when completely upgraded, it occasionally replenished ammo directly into the magazine after a successful shot. Although it couldn’t be reloaded like regular weapons could, having an essentially endless supply of ammo from a sniper rifle was still exciting.

As a devoted gamer, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about Destiny! Bungie’s got more Anniversary surprises up its sleeve for us, and it doesn’t stop there – they’ve also mapped out their strategy for Year 11 and beyond of Destiny 2. Expect four significant updates annually, coupled with two smaller expansions every six months. Plus, the journey continues with the beginning of a new multi-year narrative saga under the codename: Apollo. Can’t wait to explore what lies ahead!
