Astro Bot Will Get Free DLC Later This Year, Including Speedrun Modes

As a seasoned gamer with over three decades under my belt, I can confidently say that Astro Bot has managed to captivate me like few games have before. The upcoming DLC, focusing on speedruns and introducing more VIP bot cameos, is an exciting development for this already exceptional game.

Later this year, Astro Bot is set to get some additional content at no cost, which emphasizes speed runs. Moreover, there will be appearances of more VIP bots for the players to save in the game.

In a conversation with Quest Daily, game director Nicholas Doucet mentioned that while the upcoming release won’t feature an enormous quantity of content, it will emphasize a popular aspect from Astro’s Playroom – speedruns. He explained that there were speedruns in the original game due to its quick levels, and players could replay these stages to improve their times with the addition of new VIP bots to save. He also hinted that characters not previously included will appear in the new version.

Apart from validating the inclusion of leaderboards in speedrun content, he mentioned that the development team is working on crafting tougher levels too. Furthermore, they are exploring concepts that seem more playful or toy-like, ensuring these elements offer enjoyable experiences for players regardless of their skill sets.

There have been discussions about which additional characters might join Astro Bot in future updates. The game acknowledges third-party developers who allowed their characters to be featured, some of which are not yet present in the main game. Among these are Ubisoft, thanked three times for Assassin’s Creed, Beyond Good & Evil, and Rayman. Additionally, the credits mention Croc, Worms, Stellar Blade, and Rise of the Ronin, none of which are found in the base game. Given that these characters are credited but not present, it is speculated that Team Asobi may be reserving them for downloadable content updates.

On September 6th, Astro Bot made its debut on the PS5. In our review at TopMob, we expressed that this new release signifies a grand comeback for Astro Bot and sets the stage for a cherished series aiming high towards greatness.
