Concord to Stay in Amazon's Secret Level TV Show Despite Shutdown

As a dedicated gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the news about Concord’s closure just weeks after its launch left me reeling. I was looking forward to immersing myself in this new world, particularly since it was a first-party title from Sony.

After hearing that Concord was closing its doors mere two weeks following its debut, a lot of people shifted their focus towards Amazon’s forthcoming anthology series, titled Secret Level.

At the Gamescom Opening Night Live event, it was unveiled that Secret Level is a forthcoming animated series, with narratives revolving around both modern and classic video game franchises such as God of War, Pac-Man, and Concord. This show is scheduled to premiere on December 10, 2024, boasting a total of 15 gaming series within its lineup.

Considering the doubt surrounding Concord’s continued role in the series, it feels peculiar that an independent animated feature is being planned. Amazon Prime Video hasn’t officially confirmed if Concord will stay, but according to a source familiar with the production, they may be part of the show still.

A significant factor in Concord’s decline was its disappointing sales and lack of players. Launched simultaneously on PC and PS5 on August 23, 2024, Concord hit its highest player count on Steam, with 697 players. Regrettably, these numbers didn’t improve, which is concerning for a first-party game.

Currently, on September 6, the Concord servers are temporarily down. Sony has not disclosed specific plans for Concord’s future, but they have mentioned that they intend to investigate various possibilities, with a focus on solutions that would serve their players more effectively.

Players who purchased the game on PS5 or PC will be issued full refunds.
