As an ardent theater enthusiast, I can’t help but be moved by the captivating journey of Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley, two remarkable talents who transformed their dreams into reality on the West End stage. Their meteoric rise from obscurity to leading roles in “Mamma Mia!” is a testament to the power of perseverance, talent, and opportunity.
“Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream” winners Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley have ended their West End run.
The two actors, previously unknown, were discovered and cast as main characters Sophie and Sky in the lengthy ABBA-inspired musical following their victory on the ITV talent competition “Mamma Mia! My Wish” the previous year
At the start of this year, they promptly began rehearsing and subsequently made their first appearance on the West End stage. Their performance was set to conclude on October 5th. As for their future plans, they’re choosing to keep those details private
Izi Maxwell (“Six”) will be taking over as Sophie and Ben Irish (“Frozen the Musical”) as Sky.
“It’s fair to say that I had an unforgettable, fantastic time working with such a superb cast, it was an exceptional experience and a great chance!,” Doc shared with EbMaster. “At times, the work was challenging but still rewarding and enjoyable. Working alongside experts like Anthony Van Laast and Martin Lowe made it even better. I’m truly thankful for my time at the Novello Theatre and wish the best of luck to the team!”
Turley expressed: “Mamma Mia! has been a treasure trove, providing me with countless fantastic experiences since appearing on ITV and performing in the West End. I’ve had so many incredible opportunities because of it, and I will always be grateful for being a part of such an exceptional show. The last nine months have gone by swiftly, and I’ll miss the entire cast and crew dearly. We’ve become like a close-knit family, so saying goodbye will be difficult. The audience support has been extraordinary – thank you to everyone who joined us on this incredible adventure. I can’t wait to see what lies ahead and encourage everyone to keep an eye on our progress!”
Judy Craymer, who is responsible for both the stage production and its subsequent films, as well as serving as a judge on a talent show last year, expressed her joy about Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley, the winners of ITV’s ‘Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream,’ playing Sophie and Sky in the West End production. She added that they are now an integral part of the ‘Mamma Mia!’ family. Their time with the show has gone by quickly, and she is confident that they will achieve success in their future endeavors
Once the talent show concluded, Craymer additionally funded Maisie Waller’s participation at a drama school, as she was a fellow competitor with Doc and Turley. Starting from October 7th, Waller will be part of the West End production of “Mamma Mia!” in the ensemble
“Craymer expressed great pride in the television program, commending the performance of all participants,” he said. “It’s precisely what the show aimed to do – illuminating up-and-coming stars in the realm of musical theater.”
