As a die-hard Twilight fan since its debut in 2005, I can barely contain my excitement! The news of “Midnight Sun” being adapted into an animated series on Netflix is music to my ears. I’ve lived through the highs and lows of the original saga, from the heart-stopping moments to the nail-biting cliffhangers, and I can’t wait to experience it all over again, this time from Edward Cullen’s perspective!
According to our sources, the animated adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s “Twilight” novel “Midnight Sun” has been commissioned directly for a series by Netflix
The animated series project was initially mentioned as being in its preliminary stages at Lionsgate Television as far back as April 2023. Later, in March 2024, Michael Burns, vice chairman of Lionsgate, verified this information. Currently, Netflix is working on the development of this project

Sinead Daly has been appointed as both writer and executive producer for the upcoming series. Previously, Daly worked on shows such as “Tell Me Lies” on Hulu, “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” on AMC, “Raised by Wolves” on Max, and “The Get Down” on Netflix
Meyer, together with Meghan Hibbett, functions as co-executive producers on the series through Fickle Fish Films. Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen take on executive producer roles for Temple Hill Entertainment, who have previously produced the “Twilight” films. Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey serve as executive producers for Picturestart, with Emily Wissink of Picturestart supervising the show on behalf of the company. Originally, a total of four books were published in the widely acclaimed “Twilight” series from 2005 to 2008 – “Twilight”, “New Moon”, “Eclipse”, and “Breaking Dawn”. Author Stephenie Meyer later released “Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined” in 2015, featuring a gender-swapped version of the main characters Bella and Edward. Most recently, “Midnight Sun” was published by Meyer in 2020
