FX's Alien: Earth Teaser Brings The Xenomorph Terror Home

As a longtime fan who’s had my nerves shredded by countless encounters with Xenomorphs across various Alien timelines, I must say, FX’s Alien: Earth has truly piqued my interest. The prospect of witnessing events unfold three decades before Ridley Scott’s original masterpiece is tantalizing indeed!

Previously, director Fede Alvarez revisited the Alien franchise with Alien: Romulus last month, but a forthcoming TV series, FX’s Alien: Earth, will delve even deeper into the past. This series unfolds three decades before Ridley Scott’s initial film, implying that the xenomorphs are now closer to Earth than anyone had previously thought. The first trailer for this show offers a glimpse of the xenomorph with a modified design and Earth visible on its head, hinting at a new take on our home world.

Previously, this video was connected to some cinemas screening Alien: Romulus. Now, it has been made available online for the very first time. Furthermore, FX has distributed information about the show, and it hints that the xenomorph (or perhaps the facehuggers) landed on Earth from a strange spacecraft that crashed on the ground. According to the storyline, Sydney Chandler’s character, Wendy, along with a diverse team of military personnel, stumble upon a life-threatening secret that brings them face-to-face with Earth’s most dangerous enemy.

In keeping with the franchise’s pattern of featuring significant android characters, Timothy Olyphant is set to play Kirsh, a synth who serves as Wendy’s guide. The ensemble includes Alex Lawther as CJ, Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, Essie Davis as Dame Silvia, Adarsh Gourav as Slightly, and Kit Young as Tootles. Sandra Yi Sencindiver will recur in her role as a high-ranking executive of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

Noah Hawley, the creator of Fargo, has devised Alien: Earth as an extended series for FX, leaving room for a possible second season. Instead of debuting on the traditional FX cable channel, this show will bypass its premiere and head directly to Hulu. Anticipated to air in the early part of 2025.
