The creators behind Shadowrun have a reputation for crafting immersive worlds, and from what I’ve seen so far, GRAFT looks set to continue this trend with its unique blend of horror, cyberpunk, and RPG genres.
The game GRAFT, a future indie production by the same team behind Shadowrun, already has my interest. However, after watching the trailers, my confidence in this intriguing blend of horror, cyberpunk, and RPG genres is even stronger, provided that the developers execute their plans effectively.
Although the launch date for GRAFT has yet to be revealed, we’ve gleaned some insights into its narrative. In the game, you inhabit The Arc, a world on the brink of collapse. Your primary objective becomes ensuring your own survival. To achieve this, you’ll utilize Grafts – adaptations that alter both your physical form and consciousness, much like Cyberdecks in Cyberpunk 2077. Essentially, you’ll be progressively enhancing your character by acquiring new skills, but the specifics of how this process unfolds are as yet undisclosed.
Remarkably, the game shares a visual likeness with Shadowrun, featuring an isometric perspective. Like Cyberpunk, it’s set in a similar theme, but the gameplay seems more akin to twin-stick shooters. Surprisingly, its horror ambiance bears resemblance to Limbo and even hints at Inside. The suspenseful atmosphere with creatures leaping from shadows evokes memories of the Alien franchise, making me eager to delve into GRAFT.
Since we don’t have sufficient details about the game yet, we can merely guess about its mechanics, role-playing features, and combats outside of battle zones. Developer Harebrained Studios has hinted at an immersive RPG experience with intense survival horror combat, which certainly piques our interest. For now, all we can do is be patient and wait for more information to surface.
