As a die-hard CS2 fan who’s been following the scene since its inception, I can’t help but feel a rush of adrenaline every time I see the list of teams competing in the Americas RMR event. The Shanghai Major is the cherry on top of an already thrilling year for CS2 esports, and these teams are one step away from making history.
Top CS2 squads hailing from both North and South America are giving it their all, vying for a place at the Americas Ranking Master (RMR) tournament that precedes the Perfect World Shanghai Major, as they strive for victory.
The Shanghai Major represents the second-ever CS2 Major Championship, offering a substantial $1.25 million prize fund. Slated from November 30 to December 15, 2024, it is widely regarded as the grand finale, elegantly concluding the inaugural year of CS2 esports with panache.
In order to reach that destination, each team must first navigate through an RMR tournament. Previously, we discussed the European RMR teams, and now our focus shifts towards the Americas RMR teams since both the Open and Closed Qualifiers have concluded.
8 teams received direct invitations to the Americas RMR based on their rankings in Valve’s Regional Standings, while 8 others successfully qualified either from the North American or South American competitions.
