In Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker battled Boba Fett while trying to save Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt. Fett, who was guarding Jabba and his crew, ultimately fell into the Sarlacc pit during the fight. Now, a new comic book is coming out that tells the story of Luke and Boba’s very first official encounter.
Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett meet in upcoming Star Wars comic book
Marvel is launching a new Star Wars comic series called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Echoes of the Empire. Written by Ethan Sacks, who previously worked on the Galaxy’s Edge comic, and featuring art by Jethro Morales and Roi Mercado with cover art by Phil Noto, the story follows Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2, and Chewbacca as they journey to Batuu seeking clues to Jabba the Hutt’s palace in order to rescue Han Solo (according to CBR). At the same time, Darth Vader is still searching for Luke, his son.
Once Luke arrives at his destination, he experiences a vision through the Force and separates from his companions. He soon senses he’s being followed and discovers it’s Boba Fett. Fett tells Luke the Galactic Empire has put a bounty on his head, but offers to eliminate him without payment. Luke replies by reminding Fett that he knows about his past dealings with Han Solo.
This meeting appears to change previously established story details. An earlier comic book from 2015 already showed what happened when Luke and Boba Fett met for the first time after the events of ‘A New Hope’.
In Star Wars comics #5 and #6, Luke travels to the deserted home of Obi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi on Tatooine, hoping to find some guidance. At the same time, Boba Fett attempts to gather information about the young Jedi by questioning people in Mos Eisley.
After searching the house, Luke is surprised by an ambush from Fett, who uses a flash grenade to knock him unconscious. A fierce fight follows, ending with Fett being defeated and Luke managing to get away.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Echoes of the Empire will be published next week on April 22.
