Okay, I’m officially hyped! The first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday just dropped during CinemaCon, and it gave us a really good look at what’s coming. Honestly, though, the biggest moment for me was seeing someone catch a hammer – and it looked intense! I’m a little worried about what that means, but mostly just super excited!
As a movie fan, I’m already blown away by CinemaCon! They’ve given us a first look at so many exciting films coming up, and also shared some new details about movies we’re already anticipating.
So, at the convention, they dropped a trailer for a Call of Duty movie, which is pretty wild! Plus, get this – Top Gun 3 is actually happening! And if you’re into zombies like me, there’s another World War Z movie coming out. Hopefully, these zombies won’t be quite as fast as the last time around, though – a little breather would be nice!
The biggest highlight for many fans was the new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, which showed off the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Captain America, Thor, and the iconic villain Doctor Doom. The trailer then delivers exciting action sequences, including massive battles and a moment where a hero impressively catches a hammer, proving their worthiness.
What happens in the Avengers: Doomsday trailer?
The trailer opens with Dr. Doom gearing up for a multiversal battle, then quickly cuts to Professor Xavier, played by Patrick Stewart, looking concerned after a bright flash. Following that, we see a rapid-fire introduction of many characters, including Gambit (Channing Tatum), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth).
The highlight of the scene is definitely the fight between Thor and Doctor Doom. In a brief clash, Thor throws his hammer, Mjolnir, but Doom surprisingly catches it with his bare hands.
Even though Mjolnir is supposed to only be wieldable by the worthy, Doctor Doom casually uses it, implying he’s either powerful enough to bypass that requirement – similar to how Thanos used the Infinity Stones – or possesses a power source equivalent to the Infinity Stones himself.
Okay, things finally got exciting when Captain America showed up and teamed up with Thor – and yeah, he could still lift Mjolnir, which was awesome! Then, the movie just kept adding characters – the Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, even the X-Men! It looks like everyone’s gotta work together to stop Doctor Doom, which is gonna be epic.
The trailer received a fantastic reaction at the convention, and was shown twice to the delight of the crowd. Robert Downey Jr. even made an appearance to get fans even more excited.
Avengers: Doomsday will release on December 18, 2026.
