The next season of Ahsoka will break a seven-year pattern for Star Wars TV shows. Even though fans have waited a long time, excitement remains high for Season 2, which is expected to pick up where the first season left off with Ahsoka and Sabine Wren stranded on Peridea. While still planned for release on Disney+ in 2026, the delay has resulted in a significant record – a long wait that some fans may find disappointing.
When Ahsoka Season 2 is released, it will mark the longest wait between any series in the Star Wars universe and its previous installment. As of today, 473 days have passed since Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premiered on December 2, 2023, and that gap will increase when Season 2 finally arrives later in 2024.

Season 2 of Ahsoka is poised to change how Star Wars shows on Disney+ are released, ending a seven-year pattern and suggesting a new approach to storytelling across the interconnected series.
Typically, there’s been a gap of 170 to 460 days between releases of shows within the MandoVerse. For example, Season 2 of The Mandalorian came out 353 days after the first season.
After the second season of The Mandalorian came out, The Book of Boba Fett was released 425 days later. Then, 427 days after Boba Fett, the third season of The Mandalorian premiered.
The gap between the end of The Mandalorian Season 3 and the start of Ahsoka Season 1 was relatively short, just 174 days. However, fans had to wait much longer – 468 days – for Skeleton Crew to debut on Disney+ after Ahsoka Season 1 finished.
Filming for Ahsoka Season 2 finished in October 2025, and the team is currently working on editing and finishing the season. If the new episodes are released around August or September, it will have been approximately 600 days since filming wrapped.

Ahsoka Season 2

Ahsoka has a bright future due to the imminent arrival of Season 2 on Disney+.
As a huge fan, I’m really excited for the show’s return because it feels like things are finally going to start moving forward in a big way. We’re likely going to see more of what Grand Admiral Thrawn is up to with his plans against the New Republic, and I’m hoping we’ll finally get to see the Ghost crew back together. Plus, I’m completely hooked on the mystery surrounding Baylan Skoll and what he’s searching for with those Mortis Gods. From what I understand, all of this is building towards that big MandoVerse crossover event they’ve been planning, which is just… wow!
The Mandalorian

As much as I love watching it at home, the future of The Mandalorian on streaming is a bit up in the air right now. It seems like Disney is planning a movie starring Din Djarin and Grogu – officially titled The Mandalorian and Grogu – which might mean the series as we know it could be taking a backseat for a while.
Jon Favreau, director of The Mandalorian, revealed that the new Star Wars project began as a potential fourth season of the show. However, the team ultimately decided to develop it as a movie instead. If this The Mandalorian and Grogu film performs well in theaters, it’s likely that future adventures for Din Djarin and Grogu will continue as movies, rather than returning to a TV series.
Obi-Wan Kenobi

Originally planned as a one-time event, the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi proved so popular that many viewers are hoping it will be renewed for another season.
In June 2025, rumors surfaced suggesting a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi was being developed. However, Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed anything, leaving fans wondering if the show will actually happen. If it does move forward, there are many exciting stories they could tell, like exploring the relationship between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn (possibly with Qui-Gon appearing as a Force Ghost), continuing Reva’s journey toward redemption, and showing more of the Empire’s power during that time period.
Skeleton Crew

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew quickly became popular with fans thanks to its focus on fun, adventurous stories for younger audiences and its contribution to the wider Star Wars universe, specifically the era after the fall of the Empire.
In a January 2025 interview with TopMob, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, star of Skeleton Crew, offered an encouraging hint about a potential second season. He said, “I think there’s a good chance we’ll get one, but nothing is confirmed yet.”
There haven’t been any official updates about a second season of Skeleton Crew yet. If the show continues, it might jump forward in time, as the young actors have grown since the first season. A future season could also reveal what really happened to Jude Law’s character, Jod Na Nawood, and potentially connect the story to other Star Wars shows like Ahsoka or The Mandalorian.
