New Toy Story 5 Trailer Shows Woody & Buzz Lightyear Fight

Pixar unveiled the first trailer for Toy Story 5 at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and it surprised fans by showing Woody and Buzz Lightyear arguing. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return in this new movie, where the beloved pair are at odds as the toys face a new challenge: competing for attention in a world increasingly focused on screens.

The trailer for Toy Story 5 showed a sad situation for Woody and the toys in Bonnie’s room. Bonnie, now voiced by Scarlett Spears, is completely focused on a new tablet called Lilypad, voiced by Greta Lee. Lilypad is shaped like a frog and lets Bonnie connect with friends and play games constantly. As Bonnie spends all her time looking at the screen, classic toys like Sporkey, Rex, Hamm, and Bo Peep are being ignored and left to collect dust.

As toys face a changing world, they need help, and Woody answers the call. However, he’s not quite the hero he once was – the new trailer shows him looking older and a little worn down, dressed like a classic cowboy. While Woody tries to take the lead, Buzz Lightyear is clearly upset. The trailer ends with a tense showdown between the two friends, as they argue over who should be in charge of solving the problem.

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen appeared together to give audiences a first look at their new project. Both actors playfully noted how much time had passed since the original film came out in 1995. Allen joked that watching footage from the first movie made them look like their grandchildren, while Hanks said seeing the old behind-the-scenes clips felt like watching his younger self in junior high.

The new movie is being directed by Andrew Stanton, the filmmaker behind hits like WALL-E and Finding Nemo. The voice cast includes Joan Cusack, returning from previous projects, as well as new stars Tony Hale and Conan O’Brien, according to Variety.

Toy Story 5’s release date is June 19.
