If you find yourself needing some guidance on your journey, feel free to consult our Visions of Mana walkthrough or the helpful guides linked below.

Side Quest list

In Visions of Mana, unlike some other games, there isn’t a primary quest log. Instead, the game guides you directly and sequentially towards your objective. But don’t worry, there are numerous side quests scattered throughout each area that add depth to your adventure. As you progress through the game, be sure to discover all these quests:

Tricky quests in Visions of Mana and their solutions

This part offers instructions for tasks involving the search for outdoor items and other challenges that may prove tricky to finish.

Words on the Wind

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

Following your conversation with Keshi in Longren, you’ll be assigned to locate a letter that he accidentally let slip from his grasp. The exact location is unclear as it was lost in the Aery Vale, though Keshi can only provide a general notion about its whereabouts.

There’s a small, light blue circle on the map which gives you the area to search.

You’ll find the letter between some pine trees.

Lost and Found quest

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

Here’s a suggestion for paraphrasing your text: Nikoko the Town Beauty, found near the docks, has misplaced her precious hairpin in Rhata Harbor. This task of helping her find it has been assigned to you.

Finding the lost hairpin is one of the more annoying side quests; only because Fallow Steppe is HUGE. Go to the tower in Fallow Steppe (the one on the large hilltop that has three different Elementite crystals around it), and you’ll find the hairpin on the left side of the building.

Mushroom Mania

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

A gentleman located beside the exit leading from Ledgas Bay towards Pritta Ridge, close to the armor vendor next to the fountain, has tasked you with finding a unique type of mushroom native to the shores of Pritta Ridge. This individual, named Gastronomist Nostimo, is particularly interested in this specific mushroom variety.

Near the corner at the back-left of the beach, where the map shows the shoreline starting, you’ll discover a radiant, mushroom-indicating spot hidden within the first grove of trees. It’s quite easy to overlook due to its location, as I unintentionally did so twice, mistaking it for the location of mushroom adversaries in a previous quest from the Vale.

On the map, there’s a marked region that appears light blue. Head in that direction until you reach the border where the forest starts.

Val – How to recruit, best Vessel, & best build

How to recruit Val

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

In the game Visions of Mana, Val is the initial playable character following the prologue. As soon as you begin a new game, you’ll find yourself controlling Val and embarking on your adventure within a short while.

Best Vessel for Val

It took me a while to find a Vessel that I liked for Val. I thought that the Moon Vessel was going to work well for him, considering he’s made to be a tank character, but the Aegis class is SO SLOW. Until you pick up the Fire or Darkness Elemental Vessels, I’d advise keeping Val classless or equipping him with the Wind Vessel.

Val’s game strategy should be characterized by being both aggressive and defensive. It’s essential to concentrate on enhancing his offensive and defensive capabilities.

The Darkness Vessel is certainly the best Elemental Vessel for Val. It combines the power of Gravity with Val’s typical hard hits, making it a great choice for his playstyle. If you also equip Val with some attack-based seeds, you’ll find that you’ve got the makings of a great build for our favorite Soul Guard. I’d suggest the Strength Sigil ability seed and either the Fireball or Explode ability seeds. If you’re still playing early on in the game, the Fireball ability seed is one of the first ones you get.

Best Val build

Careena – How to recruit, best Vessel, & best build

How to recruit Careena

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

As a gamer, I can tell you that character Careena might not be tough to rope in, but she’s got a streak of obstinacy and a touch of an edgy demeanor. But don’t worry, her backstory unfolds throughout the narrative, giving you insights into what shapes her personality.

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

She’s obligated to carry out a task for her village, yet she dislikes it intensely due to her unfavorable experiences within the settlement. However, she’s entrusting you with a brief errand: locate her friend Shiriu, who can be found engaged in studies near a windmill situated outside of the village (retrace your steps and take an immediate left; continue walking up until you reach the windmill).

Despite bringing him back, she remains uncooperative. Only when you, as Val, attempt to carry out her responsibilities and fail miserably, does she decide to intervene.

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

In this tale, you’ll be called upon to bring forth the fairy, and it’s Careena who embarks on a quest to earn the title of Alm of Wind. To achieve this, she seeks the guidance of the Wind Elemental. This is where their adventure begins, as she joins your party at the outset of her journey.

Best Vessel for Careena

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

Without a doubt, the optimal Elemental Tool for Careena is the Sylphid Boomerang, which happens to be the Wind Vessel. It suits her personality exceptionally well.

When Careena wields the Wind Vessel, her character class transforms into Dancer, and she acquires a fresh set of abilities along with a wardrobe change. Notably, her statistics see a substantial boost when she carries this Vessel – in contrast to Val, whose stats experience both an increase and a decrease when he equips the Vessel.

What you need to understand about Careena is that she is supposed to be a support class character. If you give her a Vessel that can help her unlease wider attacks, you’ll see great improvements in your battles. The Wind Vessel gives Careena a pair of powerful fans to work with, and she can use the binding gusts of the Vessel against every enemy in the area.

Additionally, Careena performs effectively alongside the Water Vessel and the Undine Flask. Each item positively impacts her stats, minimizing significant reductions in other areas to maximize her boosts.

Morley – How to recruit, best Vessel, & best build

How to recruit Morley

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

Morley’s past is heartbreakingly tragic, and it requires a bit more time to bring him onto our team compared to the speed at which we can persuade Careena to join us.

1. At the former site of Etaern, where you’ll encounter him, you’ll learn about the Parish’s decline, a state far from what Morley recalls.

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

Once you locate the Luna Orb within the Lefeya Wanderings, it’s time for you to rejoin Morley at his camp. Following this, you’ll soon find yourself observing the happenings of yesteryears in Etaern.

Morley reverts to his younger self and runs out of the Parish into the Lefeya Drifts.

Follow him back to where you found the Luna Globe and listen while he deals with his trauma.

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

When you go back to Etaern once more, Morley will be named the Alm of the Moon.

Best vessel for Morley

It might seem logical that the Moon Vessel would suit Morley well, given he hails from Etaern. However, quite unexpectedly, it undermines his performance statistics instead.

Rather than that, let’s arm Morley with the Water Vessel instead. Given Morley’s roguish nature, it’s essential that they can engage in swift combat and just as swiftly retreat when needed.

The Water Vessel equips Morley with two tools for combat: a walking stick and a deck of cards. With these items, Morley can launch attacks both up close and from afar, and he can even use the Water Vessel’s power to knock enemies off their feet with powerful blasts.

Best Morley build

Palamena – How to recruit, best Vessel, & best build

How to recruit Palamena

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

In Ledgas Bay, Palamena may accidentally bump into you due to her haste. Undercover, she’s apprehended by Morley, who kindly agrees to accompany her until she feels comfortable enough to move about on her own – she injures her ankle from the collision with Val.

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

Following some investigation, you will encounter another scene where Palamena’s true identity is disclosed, and she explains her reason for donning a disguise.

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

As twilight descends and the proceedings commence, Palamena will embrace her destiny as the Alm of Water amidst Val, his allies, and the rather contemptible Passar.

1. Following the event, you’ll encounter Palamena’s younger sibling, and learn that Morley’s foster dad was wrongly jailed. (This version maintains clarity while using more conversational language to make it easier to read.)

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

As I delve deeper into this epic tale, I uncover a shocking revelation: Passar intends to seize the throne, bypassing Palamena’s brother. Now, it’s my mission to unravel the secrets hidden in the Luka Ruins on Pitta Ridge and thwart his treacherous plans. Let’s see what lies ahead!

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

Control over a formidable crustacean resembling a crab is in the hands of Passar. Should you encounter this, you’ll need to vanquish it first before returning to the palace to rectify the injustices that Passar has suffered.

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

After the conflict ends, the waters of Illystana resume their natural flow once more. As the dust settles, both the Faerie and the Undine make an appearance, and Palamena is officially bestowed with the title of Alm of Water in a public ceremony.

She will now join you on your quest to the Mana Tree.

Best Vessel for Palamena

1) The Wind Ship functions exceptionally well with Palamena. Upon realizing this, I promptly swapped Careena out from the Wind Ship for the Moon Ship, and gave Palamena the Sylphid Whirl instead.

In combat, Palamena excels at casting spells from afar, so consider this when choosing her Elemental Vessel. The Wind Vessel, for instance, manipulates wind currents, enabling the user to both levitate an opponent and inflict damage simultaneously – a powerful long-range attack, indeed!

Tips and tricks

Visions of Mana Walkthrough

  1. Check your damage. When you attack an enemy, you can see if the enemy is weak (yellow damage), resistant (blue damage), or immune (gray damage) to your attack. The colors appear on the numbers telling you how much damage you’re doing to each enemy.
  2. Make sure you check enemy levels. Some higher-level enemies will be hidden amongst the other enemies in that area. That can mean having a couple of groups of level 31 enemies in the same area as the level 3 enemies. The text is small, so if you aren’t making a dent in their health, you need to run.
  3. Activate every glowing spot. These are fast travel points, and you’ll be glad you did this when you need to come back and collect Elementite crystals.
  4. Ensure you try out every Elemental Vessel on each playable character. Not only does this help you figure out which Vessel would be best for them to use, but it also unlocks new abilities and outfits for them. Some Achievements on Steam are linked to this, too, so it’s better to spend a few minutes having everyone in your party enjoy their transformation sequence than not.
  5. Explore every corner of the map. There are items, chests, and Elementites hidden everywhere in Visions of Mana. If you want to speedrun your way through, you could, but you won’t get anywhere near the same amount of money or items as players that take their time.
  6. Remember that you can run at the barrier during a fight to escape. This just shuts down the fight with no penalty to your health or EXP.
  7. Check towns and villages for quests. Most side quests are in the towns and villages, rather than on the road. You’re looking for a tiny circle with an exclamation point inside of it, which can be difficult to see. There’s a list of all available side quests at the top of this walkthrough.
  8. Fight using the character you’re comfortable with. There’s no point switching between characters if you aren’t used to the other play styles. My advice is to stick to your main character during boss fights, and practice with the other characters when you’re just exploring an area.
  9. Collect Grizzly Syrups to exchange them for various healing items from the Dudbears you meet.
  10. Add items to your ring menus. You can add consumables and spells to the two different ring menus available in Visions of Mana. This will help you avoid constantly going into your main menu or struggling during fights when you need to cast a spell instead of using your normal or special attacks.
