As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the current state of Risk of Rain 2 on Xbox is nothing short of frustrating. Having sunk countless hours into both RoR1 and RoR2, it’s disheartening to see such a beloved game marred by technical issues.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but sing praises for Hopoo Games, renowned for their exceptional work in the indie gaming scene, particularly their Risk of Rain series. Among other titles, Deadbolt is one gem they’ve crafted that I wholeheartedly endorse. However, it’s Risk of Rain that truly puts them on the map, an IP that Gearbox acquired back in 2022.
Risk of Rain 2 not working on Xbox explained
Updates suggest a game continues to be nurtured and maintained, but sometimes these updates can cause problems. For instance, Risk of Rain 2, which runs on both PC and PlayStation, experiences troubles on Xbox. While it does function to some extent, it’s far from perfect according to many users who describe it as “buggy” and “half-baked.” In essence, the Xbox version still encounters several issues.
Clever individuals have divulged their strategies for addressing this matter on Reddit. Essentially, here are three approaches they suggest:
- Working around the problem by playing on a fresh save slot, since old ones do not work.
- Being quick. As soon as the game starts, try opening the logbook, which quite fast gets greyed out. If you’ve managed to access the logbook, exit it, and you should be able to play eclipse using the last character that you have used before the patch.
- Using a second controller as a guest. However, this tends to break the character select screen.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been left scratching my head after the latest update turned the Xbox version of our beloved game into a buggy mess and left the PC version incomplete. It makes one wonder if any quality assurance was done at all. Given that Gearbox is now in charge of this iconic IP, I can only hope that their reputation for meticulous product care translates into a swift fix for these problems with a patch.
