Skyrim mod lets you debate dragons instead of fighting them

A Skyrim player discovered a hilarious and unusual method for defeating dragons – it doesn’t involve fighting at all! Instead of swords, magic, or sneaking, you can apparently ‘win’ against them with a well-argued discussion.

YouTuber Blurbs has made a mod for Skyrim that changes dragon battles into timed political debates. Instead of fighting dragons, players now have to win arguments about the world of Tamriel, making these famous encounters a test of intelligence and speaking skills.

The mod creator says it works by finding a dragon nearby and instantly bringing it next to the player, complete with a podium appearing alongside it.

Rather than immediately attacking with a weapon, the Dragonborn must answer a debate question submitted live by Twitch viewers. The audience then votes on who won the debate, and the loser is instantly defeated if their answer isn’t good enough.

Debating a dragon in Skyrim

Honestly, the debate was wild! The questions they were asking were completely out there – like, they actually spent time debating if dragons coming back was just made up! And then there was this whole thing about whether yelling in public was a free speech right or if it should be considered something way more serious, like a destructive act. It was seriously bizarre.

One user asked a surprisingly specific question about a rumor that ibuprofen turns people into vampires in the fictional world of Tamriel, even suggesting a conspiracy by pharmaceutical companies. But the dragon character cleverly shut down the claim, responding with a self-aware promotion: “That’s ridiculous. Just buy more ibuprofen, and use my sponsor code!”

As expected, things didn’t go well for the Dragonborn, and he immediately collapsed and died after the audience rejected him.

Someone questioned if the internet should be shut down because of political propaganda from the Stormcloaks and inappropriate content related to the Thalmor. Blurbs immediately claimed he was unaware of these specifics, and Mr. Dragon ended up being blamed for the situation.

Skyrim, Bethesda’s popular action role-playing game, has gained attention online multiple times this year. In April, a large player-run role-playing server where players act as all the characters in the game reached a new milestone.
