‘Six Triple Eight’ Trailer: Kerry Washington Leads All-Black, All-Female Army Corps in Netflix Drama

As a cinema enthusiast who has spent countless hours delving into the rich tapestry of war dramas, historical narratives, and stories of resilience and determination, I must say that the trailer for “The Six Triple Eight” has piqued my interest significantly. The cast is nothing short of stellar, boasting powerhouses like Kerry Washington, Oprah Winfrey, and Susan Sarandon, among others.

Netflix recently revealed the trailer for “The Six Triple Eight,” an original war-time drama by Tyler Perry, featuring Kerry Washington in the lead role.

Based on the official description, “The Six Triple Eight” is a movie that draws inspiration from the unique Women’s Army Corps unit of color who served overseas during World War II. Assigned a remarkable task and bound together by their resolute spirit, these lesser-known heroines brought hope and broke down barriers.

In the trailer, Washington portrays Charity Adams, a character leading an army of female soldiers. Before commencing their training, she delivers a motivational speech. “I’m giving you my all, and I expect the same from you,” she says firmly. “Many doubt our ability to succeed. We have the most to demonstrate.” She concludes with a strong statement, “Welcome to the Women’s Army Corps.”

The ensemble also features Oprah Winfrey, Susan Sarandon, Ebony Obsidian, Dean Norris, Sam Waterston, Milauna Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantay, Sarah Jeffery, Pepi Sonuga, Moriah Brown, Jeanté Godlock, Jay Reeves, Jeffery Johnson, Baadja-Lyne Odums, Donna Biscoe, Gregg Sulkin and Scott Daniel Johnson.

Perry reworked the screenplay based on the article titled “Fighting A Two-Front War,” written by Kevin M. Hymel. Washington and Peter Guber are credited as executive producers. The team of producers includes Perry, Nicole Avant, Angi Bones, Tony L. Strickland, Keri Selig, and Carlota Espinosa.

In 2024, “The Six Triple Eight” will be the third directorial project of Perry, having previously released “Mea Culpa” featuring Kelly Rowland in February and “Tyler Perry’s Divorce in the Black” with Meagan Good in July.

Starting from December 6, “The Six Triple Eight” will have a restricted cinema release, followed by its online premiere on Netflix from December 20. You can watch the trailer here below.
