Armie Hammer Sells His Truck Because ‘I Can’t Afford the Gas Anymore’ and Starts ‘New Life in Los Angeles’

As a seasoned cinephile with a penchant for deciphering the complexities of Hollywood, I find myself deeply intrigued by the latest chapter in the enigmatic life of Armie Hammer. It’s reminiscent of a classic film noir plot, filled with twists and turns, where the hero finds himself at the edge of a precipice, only to emerge stronger, wiser, and ready to face the world anew.

In a video shared on Instagram yesterday, Armie Hammer mentioned that he’s embarking on a fresh start in Los Angeles. He also revealed that financial constraints have led him to part ways with his truck as he can no longer cover its fuel costs.

Hammer mentions in the video, filmed at a CarMax store in California, that he’s been back in L.A. for around two weeks. He explains that this is his truck, which he bought himself as a Christmas present in 2017. Having had pickup trucks for quite some time, he has cherished this one deeply, using it for camping trips, cross-country journeys, and long road excursions. Since returning to L.A., he’s spent approximately $400-$500 on gas for it, but unfortunately, he can’t afford that expense.

After facing sexual abuse accusations in 2021, which involved claims of rape, cannibalism fantasies, and forcing partners into BDSM situations, the actor from “The Social Network” and “Call Me by Your Name,” moved to live and work as a timeshare salesman in the Cayman Islands. This led to his ostracization in Hollywood. Consequently, he withdrew from various projects, lost his publicist and agent, and became under investigation by the LAPD. However, no criminal charges were filed against him. Hammer has continuously denied these allegations, asserting that all relationships were consensual.

Over the past few months, Hammer has been back in the limelight, participating in discussions on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, Tom Arnold’s “Painful Lessons,” and “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” He maintains that all sexual assault accusations against him are false, but acknowledges other instances of poor conduct like infidelity and exploiting people for personal gain. Hammer describes his exile from the entertainment industry as a liberating experience, yet he’s also expressed interest in writing a screenplay based on his life experiences and aiming to re-enter the filmmaking world.

“Cheers to fresh starts,” Hammer expressed in the video shared on Tuesday. “Tomorrow is my birthday, and on August 28, I’ll be kicking off my birthday in a brand-new vehicle, in a fresh apartment, embarking on a new chapter of life in Los Angeles.”

He mused over numerous recollections linked to the truck, such as driving his freshly-born children home from the hospital. “Thank you so much,” he uttered, rapping on the steering wheel. “You’ve carried me a long distance, and I truly value it all. I wish that the next person will treat you just as well.”

Hammer mentioned he’s recently purchased a compact hybrid vehicle, which he expects won’t need more than $10 worth of fuel each month. He’s been reassuring himself that parking will become less of a hassle and fuel costs will decrease as a result.
