Avengers: Doomsday rumor reveals X-Men’s backstory

Recent buzz about the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday hints at a troubled past for the X-Men. Online reports suggest the mutant team has faced numerous crises and invasions.

On X (formerly Twitter), James Mack shared that in the upcoming ‘Avengers Doomsday‘ event, all the X-Men will die fighting incursions, with only Mystique, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Wolverine, Deadpool, Professor X, Magneto, Beast, Gambit, and one other character surviving. When asked if this explained the small number of X-Men currently appearing, Mack confirmed that it was the reason.

Earlier this year, a reliable source revealed that the X-Men will have a difficult history in the upcoming Avengers Doomsday event. Apparently, they’ve endured numerous near-apocalyptic events called Incursions, which have left them emotionally and physically drained. According to the source, the X-Men have barely survived countless Incursions, each threatening to destroy their entire reality, and they’ve made immense sacrifices along the way.

To stay alive, the group resorts to a desperate plan. According to MTTSH, each time they launch an ‘Incursion,’ they send members to attack another Earth and destroy it, preventing their own universe from being wiped out. However, these reports haven’t been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios yet.

The next Avengers movie, titled ‘Doomsday’, is planned for release on December 18, 2026. It will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and star Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and many more. The story will then continue in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, which is scheduled to come out on December 17, 2027.
