Sierra is the newest hero in Overwatch, but many players think she’s too powerful and are asking for her to be weakened.
Overwatch’s Season 2 release brought significant updates, including a new system for recognizing good plays after each match. However, the most exciting part was the introduction of Sierra, a new damage-dealing hero with a completely original set of abilities.
This hero is quickly proving to be incredibly strong, and some players believe she’s now overpowered, leading to calls for adjustments.
Overwatch players call for nerf to Sierra Ultimate
After Sierra was released on April 14th, a lot of players went online to say she’s too powerful and needs to be weakened.
Players are mainly concerned about a character’s powerful ultimate ability. This ability sends a drone forward to lay down a line of fast-exploding bombs, dealing massive damage. Many feel it’s especially overpowered in close-quarters combat.
A Reddit user pointed out that a character’s ultimate ability is incredibly powerful. They explained it deals 180 damage per bomb, with an additional 72 damage in the surrounding area, and launches a total of 23 bombs. In tight spaces, due to the character’s speed, this attack can instantly eliminate opponents before they have time to respond.
They weren’t joking with her ult.

Sierra’s Tracking Shot makes it easier to hit enemies and quickly build up her ultimate ability. It marks a target, causing her attacks to automatically lock on for a short time, ensuring consistent damage.
I was scrolling through the comments, and someone said she really needs to be toned down. Another player chimed in, basically saying it’s no shocker that a damage-dealing hero in Overwatch is overpowered right now.
One fan commented that it builds up power too rapidly, is hard to read, and happens so quickly you can’t respond in time.
New characters often start out quite powerful, but Blizzard typically adjusts them quickly to ensure balance. Expect to see some changes to Sierra as players share their thoughts and experiences.
