As a die-hard Sonic fan who grew up with the blue blur zipping across our screens, this latest trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has sent me into a frenzy! From the moment I saw that post-credits teaser in Sonic 2, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the appearance of Shadow the Hedgehog. And now, with Keanu Reeves voicing the enigmatic character, it’s like my wildest dreams have come true!
Following a playful jab from Ben Schwartz, the voice actor of Sonic, on Monday, the much-awaited Sonic the Hedgehog trailer was finally released. The upcoming third installment, once more helmed by Jeff Fowler, reunites Sonic, Tails (played by Colleen O’Shaughnessey), and Knuckles (Idris Elba). In this new adventure, they are joined by Keanu Reeves who voices Shadow the Hedgehog.
In the closing scene of Sonic 2, the beloved character Shadow made a surprise appearance. The project involving Shadow was hinted at, and his abilities were astounding, effortlessly overpowering Knuckles. Interestingly, Sonic sought assistance from an unexpected source – Robotnik – to combat this new formidable foe. Take a look for yourself!
Starting from Sonic 2, they’ve continued to involve some characters in new adventures and broaden the storyline through a mini-series about Knuckles on Paramount+. In this series, Idris Elba and Adam Pally reprised their roles, and it aligned more with the first Sonic movie as Knuckles learned to enjoy life on Earth.
In the upcoming movie, Jim Carrey will reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik. Alongside him, James Marsden and Tika Sumpter will be back as Sonic’s human family, Tom and Maddie Wachowski. Furthermore, Krysten Ritter, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, James Wolk, and Jorma Taccone have been brought on board for unspecified roles in the production.
The two Sonic films together have garnered more than $720 million worldwide, making them massive successes among viewers.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is scheduled to be released on December 20.
