DC is continuing the story of Dark Knights of Steel, and the next installment appears fantastic.
DC Comics announced that the world of Dark Knights of Steel will be returning this summer. Getting to come back to Dark Knights of Steel is awesome. I grew up on comics and fantasy books – seriously, since I was a little kid, I’ve been totally hooked on stories about heroes fighting against really bad stuff. Everything from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld to the DC Universe, I’ve loved the epic stories of Tolkien and Waid, the funny and heartfelt stuff from Simone, Kelly, and Pratchett, and the amazing character development you get from writers like Ennis and Hobb. That’s the kind of stuff that really grabbed me, and it definitely influenced how I approach writing.
Before its release, the team behind Dark Knights of Steel II and the story itself have received a lot of positive attention. Writer Taylor expressed great enthusiasm about reuniting with Otto Schmidt, Arif Prianto, Wes Abbott, Matthew Levine, and Andrea Shea to continue their blend of fantasy and superhero elements. Dark Knights of Steel II promises a dramatic story filled with power struggles, betrayal, war, romance, and the fight between heroes and oppressive forces, ultimately focusing on the power of unity against evil empires.
The award-winning writer said that combining their two biggest passions with intense heat and powerful tools is what truly makes them happy, but warned that things might go wrong as a result.
Dark Knights of Steel, Explained
Dark Knights of Steel began in 2022 and transported readers to Earth 118, a world filled with familiar heroes and villains. The story focused on the growing tensions and conflicts between its major powers, like the Houses of El and Wayne, the Amazons, and the Kingdom of Storms.
Similar to the first series, Dark Knights of Steel II will consist of twelve issues. And just a week after it launches, readers can explore another story in the universe with the release of Dark Knights of Steel II Special: Heir to the Sea #1, a one-shot issue detailing Aquaman’s origins.
I’m so excited for the next batch of Dark Knights of Steel comics! The first issue of Dark Knights of Steel II is hitting shelves on July 15th, and then a special issue, Heir to the Sea #1, comes out on July 22nd. Can’t wait to read them!
