I haven’t been this entertained by an episode of Below Deck in a long time! The crew is facing high stakes – the tip is seriously at risk – but the actual problems they’re fighting about are pretty silly. If I had to sum up the episode in one sentence, it would be: A surprise drag party for a wealthy guest pushes a superyacht crew, including a crew member experiencing a serious mental health crisis, to their breaking point. Something is definitely off with the interior team, between Mike’s unprofessional behavior and Ellie’s obsession with João. Meanwhile, the exterior crew, led by João (who’s mostly worried about how to break up with Ellie without a huge scene), is working perfectly. We haven’t heard a single complaint from the deck crew since that near-disaster with the snorkeling trip. Luckily, there’s plenty of drama with the interior crew to keep things interesting all season long.
While setting up the beach dinner, Alesia playfully teases Daisy about a possible love triangle involving João and Ellie. Daisy, being practical, quickly dismisses it, noting Ellie clearly has feelings for João and wouldn’t want to complicate things. She also admits she finds Ellie a bit intimidating. Daisy then decides to talk to João directly to clear the air before the situation escalates. In the meantime, Ben’s busy grilling lobster, ribs, and veggies, and the conversation takes an unexpectedly crude turn as the guests begin discussing… well, let’s just say personal measurements.
Following dinner, a fire dancer entertained the group. Everyone, including Alesia who was thrilled, and Daisy who wasn’t, gave fire-spitting a try. The guests, a lively and playful bunch clearly enjoying the chance to be a little wild with the cameras rolling, adored Alesia, affectionately calling her ‘Bean.’ Back on the boat after dinner, they excitedly told Jenna that Alesia was a natural at fire-breathing, to which Jenna responded with a knowing smile. They then relayed Jenna’s comment to Alesia, completely unaware of the nightly battles brewing between the two women over a silly, multi-colored plush toy…
The potential for drama stirred up by the guests fizzles out. Jenna feels increasingly confident in her relationship with Eddy, and the real source of tension—Alesia—is mostly causing issues with her coworker, Mike. Mike thinks Alesia is overly serious, which says a lot considering his own attitude. He’s also getting very comfortable on the boat, even snapping at Daisy when she asks him to tidy up, telling her he’s “not a cleaner.” Daisy confides that she’s concerned about Mike’s growing ego and wants to avoid conflict with him.
The next day began with a hopeful feeling. João promised Mike he would break up with Ellie before things became more serious. Meanwhile, Tyler and his friend Nick met with Jason and Daisy to plan how to welcome Tyler’s makeup artist, Alex, later that day. Tyler had spent a significant amount – over $12,000, to be exact – to have Alex work for the drag night. Despite Alex’s demanding requests, Tyler was very appreciative and sincerely thanked Daisy and Jason for being accommodating. The surprise meant a lot to him and felt truly special.
The day quickly went downhill during breakfast. Ben made scrambled eggs for the guests and asked Ellie to add pepper and a little olive oil. Unfortunately, Ellie accidentally used dish soap instead of oil. Everyone immediately noticed – Tyler even tasted it to confirm. Daisy tried a bite and quickly spat it out. Ben, surprisingly calm, asked Ellie if it was true she’d put dish soap in the eggs. Ellie was shocked and couldn’t speak. Ben glanced at the bottle she’d used and realized what had happened. The real question is: why was the dish soap even in the kitchen prep area? It should have been kept by the sink.
Ellie is worried she’ll lose her job, but she doesn’t realize how much she frightened Ben when she spoke her mind. Ben tells her he feels responsible, repeatedly saying it’s unfortunate that someone so capable made a mistake. This is surprising considering Ben grew up in tough kitchens where even small errors were met with harsh reactions! For now, Ellie’s biggest problem is having to explain what happened to Jason. After being stunned by her confession, Jason heads to the deck and turns on the charm, reassuring the guests and promising to earn back any lost tips on the next snorkeling excursion.
The snorkeling trip caused a bit of a headache. Guests Dev and Brian decided not to go, which threw off Daisy’s plans – she’d scheduled the trip so a makeup artist could work undisturbed. She couldn’t believe anyone would pass up snorkeling! She alerted the crew to be discreet around Dev and Brian, as the makeup artist, Alex, was arriving as a surprise. Daisy and Eddy created a diversion, sending Dev and Brian paddleboarding while Daisy got Alex settled in Tyler’s cabin. Tyler, eager for his makeup session, rushed back from the snorkeling trip and practically ran to his room, ignoring Jason’s signal to come ashore. While Tyler, Alex, and his friend Nick enjoyed sushi and eagerly anticipated the makeover, Mike was serving lunch on deck. When Ashley mentioned she was doing everyone’s drag makeup, Mike accidentally revealed he’d overheard something about a makeup artist being onboard.
I was completely frustrated. The guests were annoyed that Tyler had secretly brought a makeup artist on board, as everyone had agreed to do their own makeup. Mike realized he’d made a big mistake and muttered, “It was good while it lasted” as he went to talk to Daisy. He tried to claim he hadn’t known it was a secret, but that made things even worse – there was plenty of proof that Daisy had repeatedly emphasized Tyler’s specific request for the crew to help him pull off the surprise. Daisy worried Tyler would be furious if he found out, but she also pointed out that Mike’s mistake revealed a bigger problem: he wasn’t paying attention to important information and didn’t seem to value his team’s work on Tyler’s vision. She suggested Mike try to fix things by charming the guests and asking them to keep it quiet. He managed to convince Brian, Ashley, and even Spencer, who the others thought would be difficult. Meanwhile, Daisy complained to João about Mike. I couldn’t understand why she didn’t go directly to the captain – it was a major error by Mike, on top of the earlier issue with the eggs.
Regarding the recent mishap with the eggs, Ellie doesn’t seem too bothered by it. She’s currently focused on baking João a lemon cheesecake meringue for his birthday, as it’s his favorite. She describes her relationship with him as potentially incredible – like winning a big lottery. Ben, still quite shaken up, is eager to help with anything he can. He even volunteers to make the icing, but Ellie wants to handle the entire dessert herself. Right now, though, they need to figure out dinner plans. Ben can’t recall if it’s scheduled for 7:45 or 8:45 p.m. Meanwhile, Daisy, who had to interrupt her shower to remind everyone – dinner is at 7:45 p.m. – is on the verge of losing her patience after being asked such a simple question.
Alesia impatiently asked Jenna for help setting the table, getting upset that Jenna had spent too much time doing a guest’s makeup instead of assisting her. Meanwhile, Daisy had to coax Mike away from his cabin to help with the catwalk setup, as he was preoccupied with his hair. Tyler’s friends were already frustrated and felt his extravagant drag outfit was a show of wealth. When he announced Alex was at the fashion show, they didn’t react with any enthusiasm, which was disappointing because Tyler had been really excited. Considering they were enjoying a free trip on a superyacht, their lack of support seemed unfair. Luckily, the atmosphere improved when Eddy showed up wearing one of Alesia’s dresses and a purple wig.
Tyler immediately finds out that Mike spoiled the surprise, just as dinner service begins. He calls Mike out on it, and Mike blatantly lies to his face, even promising to investigate who revealed the secret – despite everyone knowing it was him, as it was caught on camera! It was a remarkably bold move. While this particular conflict is resolved for now, I’m curious to see if it surfaces again in customer feedback. This reaction from Mike isn’t surprising; earlier that day, he confessed to Ellie that he’d never admit to sabotaging the eggs with soap, and then awkwardly asked for a massage appointment.
Instead of trying to make things better, Mike starts arguing with Alesia again. He’s upset because she suggested he help her with drinks earlier when she was overwhelmed. While Alesia often asks for help, it’s hard to side with Mike in this situation. As Daisy tries to go to bed, Mike deliberately picks a fight with Alesia, refusing to talk when she asks if they can support each other during their shift. Their arguments are childish, but Mike was the one who started it. Daisy is exhausted and just wants them to stop fighting.
Honestly, watching this unfold is just… frustrating. She was still exhausted that morning, and she was venting to Jenna about Alesia and Mike constantly fighting – Jenna rightly pointed out they’re both acting like total fools. And then there’s Ellie, up before everyone else making João’s birthday cake, while they still have guests! Seriously, this is less than a day after the whole egg disaster! Instead of fixing that mess, she’s tackling this huge cheesecake – Ben said it was a real project – right up until breakfast time. But what really gets me is the whole João situation. He tried to break things off with Ellie the night before, but it was a disaster. He basically rambled at her on the bridge, and she walked away thinking they were okay, while he thought he was free to pursue Daisy. It started predictably enough – you could see where it was going from his body language, even when he said, “I like you…” – and Ellie even asked if he wanted to just be friends! But instead of ending it cleanly, he said he still wanted to hang out and that nothing would change. I mean, what?! It makes absolutely no sense!
Even if Ben felt things were moving too quickly with Ellie, her insistence on making a cake is still unreasonable. He initially explained the cake by saying Ellie had gotten up early to work on it, but then immediately told her to stop and focus on breakfast. Soon, both Ellie and Ben were demanding she handle multiple tasks at once, pushing Daisy to her breaking point. They kept interrupting the boat’s docking process with radio calls. Finally, Daisy snapped, pointing out she was the only one available to provide service because the deck crew was busy docking, Jenna was making drinks, and Alesia was still asleep. She felt like she was the only one prioritizing work while everyone else chased their own interests – and she was right. Next week’s preview suggests things are about to get even more chaotic, with a dramatic shift in dynamics similar to Below Deck’s version of Casa Amor. I’m ready for the drama!
