Fantasy TV shows are among the greatest ever made, and many of them are enjoyable to rewatch. The genre allows creators a lot of freedom and combines well with sci-fi, horror, and drama, resulting in a diverse range of fantastic shows.
While many fantastic shows exist, not all of them hold up over time. Some fantasy series now feel dated or contain elements that haven’t aged well, making them difficult to revisit. Fortunately, others have the opposite effect – they actually improve with each viewing.
Being Human (UK)
Five Seasons
Created by Toby Whithouse, Being Human is a British comedy-drama about the supernatural that ran on BBC Three for five seasons, from 2008 to 2013. The show centers around three friends: John Mitchell (Aidan Turner), a vampire, and George Sands (Russell Tovey), a werewolf, who share a house in Bristol. They’re joined by their unexpected housemate, Annie Sawyer (Lenora Crichlow), a ghost who died in the house.
As a big TV fan, I always appreciate shows that really go there, and Being Human definitely does. It’s about these characters – a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost – who are just trying to live normal lives, despite, you know, being a vampire, werewolf, and ghost! What I loved is that it wasn’t just about the supernatural stuff; it really dug into what it means to be human, dealing with big themes like love, death, and what’s right and wrong. That’s where the show gets its depth, and honestly, it’s why I keep going back to rewatch it – the characters feel so real and well-developed.
Arcane
Two Seasons
Arcane is an animated action-adventure series with a steampunk style, created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee. The show is set in the world of the popular video game League of Legends and tells the story of Piltover, a beautiful and advanced city, and Zaun, a struggling, polluted undercity. The series centers around Violet and Powder, two orphaned sisters who grew up in Zaun, and their journey through these conflicting worlds.
After a botched robbery, the already strained relationship between the cities of Piltover and Zaun gets even worse, driving two sisters to opposing sides of a conflict. Adding to the chaos are new inventions – powerful magical technology called Hextech, and a dangerous drug known as Shimmer. The show Arcane aired for two seasons on Netflix and is now widely considered one of the greatest animated series ever made.
The Wheel of Time
Three Seasons
Based on Robert Jordan’s book series, The Wheel of Time was created for television by Rafe Judkins. The story unfolds in a fantastical world where Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), a member of the Aes Sedai – a powerful group of women who can wield a unique power called the One Power – searches for a special group of people from the village of Emond’s Field.
Damodred thinks one of them might be the reincarnation of the Dragon – a being with incredible power who was responsible for a cataclysmic event in the past. A prophecy says this reincarnation will either save the world or destroy it. The Wheel of Time aired for three seasons on Prime Video and is considered one of the platform’s most popular shows.
The Wheel of Time is a show that consistently gets better, with well-developed characters and a rich level of detail. It’s full of subtle hints and clues that make it rewarding to rewatch, becoming more enjoyable each time.
Pushing Daisies
Two Seasons
Pushing Daisies is a quirky and imaginative TV series created by Bryan Fuller. The show follows Ned (played by Lee Pace), a baker with an extraordinary gift: he can bring the deceased back to life with a single touch. However, there’s a catch! Anything revived for over a minute causes a nearby living thing to die to maintain balance, and a second touch results in permanent death for whatever he brought back.
Ned runs a pie shop, but he also helps detective Emerson Cod solve murder cases. Ned has a unique ability: he can briefly bring victims back to life – just under a minute – to get clues from them. His life gets complicated when his longtime crush, Chuck, dies, and he revives her, only to discover he can’t physically touch her again.
Pushing Daisies is a show that mixes fantasy, comedy, drama, and mystery in a really creative way. It’s known for being lighthearted and visually vibrant – some even call it a “forensic fairy tale.” Though it was canceled after just two seasons, that makes it perfect for rewatching, and you’ll notice new details and appreciate the quirky characters and strange cases even more each time.
Good Omens
Preparing Its Third Season
Good Omens is a funny fantasy TV show adapted from the 1990 novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. The series follows Aziraphale, an angel played by Michael Sheen, and Crowley, a demon played by David Tennant. They’ve known each other for centuries and have become unlikely friends, meeting throughout the history of the universe.
Aziraphale and Crowley have spent two seasons working together to prevent the apocalypse, locate the Antichrist, and even help the amnesiac Archangel Gabriel. But season three may bring their greatest challenge yet. The final season of Good Omens will be a single, 90-minute episode premiering on May 13, 2026.
What makes Good Omens truly special is the incredible connection between Crowley and Aziraphale. Even though they’re on opposite sides, they balance each other out beautifully. Their relationship grows more compelling with each viewing, and the show’s storylines and subtle details become even richer over time.
The Good Place
Four Seasons
Created by Michael Schur, The Good Place is a funny and imaginative TV show about Eleanor (Kristen Bell), a woman who finds herself in the afterlife. She’s told she’s in the Good Place—basically, heaven—but quickly realizes there’s been a mistake, and she definitely doesn’t belong there.
Eleanor, guided by her soulmate Chidi (William Jackson Harper), tries to improve herself and prove she deserves a spot in the Good Place. The show is famous for its incredible plot twist in the first season, and it consistently gets even better as it explores big ideas about death, what’s right and wrong, feeling guilty, what it means to be human, and various philosophies.
The Good Place is both clever and enjoyable, offering genuinely touching scenes along the way. It’s packed with fun details and subtle hints that make it a show you’ll want to watch again and again.

Buffy, aided by her mentor Giles, and her friends Willow and Xander, battles monsters and villains while also dealing with the everyday challenges of high school and growing up. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is widely considered one of the greatest TV shows ever made, known for its complex characters, diverse creatures, and thoughtful exploration of important issues.
Despite a few dated aspects and imperfections, Buffy the Vampire Slayer remains a truly exceptional show, both within its genre and as a television series overall. It’s consistently relatable and captivating, offering new insights with each viewing.
