Nintendo Direct August 2024: Start Time, How To Watch, And What To Expect

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia as I anticipate the upcoming Nintendo Direct. Having grown up with the original Game Boy and the N64, I’ve watched Nintendo evolve from a pioneer in portable gaming to a powerhouse in the industry. The 2-for-1 special on August 27 promises an Indie World presentation followed by a Partner Showcase, making it a must-watch event for me.

Get ready! The next Nintendo Direct is coming up soon, on August 27, and you won’t want to miss this special event. Instead of just one showcase, Nintendo has decided to give us a double feature. First, they’ll present an Indie World Showcase, followed by a Partner Showcase. Here’s when the August 2024 Nintendo Direct will take place, how you can watch it live, and what exciting content to anticipate. As for any rumors about the Switch 2, don’t hold your breath – Nintendo has confirmed that there won’t be any news on that front at this event.

When is the Nintendo Direct?

The Nintendo Direct for August 2024 will start at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET on Tuesday, August 27.

  • 7 AM PT
  • 10 AM ET
  • 3 PM BST
  • 12 AM AET (August 28)

How to watch the Nintendo Direct

Here I am, eagerly waiting as always! Nintendo will be streaming their Nintendo Direct right on their YouTube and Twitch channels. You can catch it live too, just look for the embedded presentation below. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for us gaming enthusiasts!

What to expect

Initially, Nintendo has unequivocally stated that there is no plans for Switch 2 at the moment. In fact, they posted an update specifically addressing this topic to manage fan expectations appropriately.

Take note, neither presentation will include any discussion about a potential successor to the Nintendo Switch.

After addressing other matters, it’s no surprise that attendees will be eager for news on Hollow Knight: Silksong during the Indie Showcase segment. Originally, Team Cherry had intended to release Silksong in the first half of 2023; however, they later postponed the game. More recently, Geoff Keighley announced that Silksong would not be featured at Gamescom Opening Night Live this month.

During the Partner Showcase part of today’s presentation, I’m excitedly looking forward to some games coming out on Switch before the end of this year that might catch our eye. For instance, Disney Epic Mickey: Reblushed could potentially be highlighted since it’s a remake of a Wii exclusive and is set to release on September 23rd. Additionally, it seems likely that Level 5 will make an appearance with upcoming titles like Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, which is due in 2025. Can’t wait to see them shine!

The Nintendo Direct will have an overall runtime of around 40 minutes.
