‘Super/Man’ Trailer: Christopher Reeve Doc Captures the Late Actor’s Superhero Stardom and Life After His Near-Fatal Accident

As someone who has always held Christopher Reeve in high regard for his iconic portrayal of Superman and his tireless advocacy off-screen, I am thrilled to see Warner Bros. releasing this documentary about his life. “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” promises a deep dive into the man behind the cape, and as a fan, I can’t wait to delve further into his extraordinary journey.

Warner Bros. unveiled the authentic preview for “Super/Man,” a film that delves into the life story of Christopher Reeve.

Under the direction of Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” delves into the life of the renowned actor, chronicling his journey from becoming a cinematic icon as Superman to his valiant battle for a spinal cord injury cure after his quadriplegia diagnosis following a horse riding mishap. The documentary features contributions from Reeve’s family and incorporates personal archival materials.

“Matthew Reeve stated to EbMaster, ‘It’s a blessing, and we feel incredibly fortunate.’ Not only do we have his films to appreciate, but there’s a treasure trove of home videos to explore and sift through, along with interviews of him available on YouTube. Unearthing previously unseen footage didn’t alter my view of him, but rather deepened it…it was like discovering a unique Australian interview from 1977 that had been uploaded, which I hadn’t known existed. It was quite exciting to stumble upon such rare material and learn more about him than we previously knew.”

In his review, Super/Man’s lead film critic from EbMaster, Owen Gleiberman, highly commended the film, describing it as “an emotionally powerful, tearjerking, and meticulously crafted documentary” that had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

“Entering ‘Super/Man’, we’re familiar with the broad strokes of Reeve’s story, having read his 1998 autobiography ‘Still Me’. However, it’s the finer details that truly matter, and this documentary enriches his life story with a captivating depth.”
