Euphoria Kevin Turen dedication explained

The first episode of Euphoria Season 3 included dedications to three people connected to the show. Here’s who they were and what their involvement was.

After being off the air for several years due to delays, Euphoria returned last night with a thrilling new episode. The episode was set five years after the events of Season 2.

The first episode of Season 3, called ‘Ándale,’ showed Rue discovering faith and explaining how she went from working at Smoke Shack to becoming a drug carrier. Meanwhile, Maddy and Lexi were both working in Hollywood, and Nate and Cassie were planning their wedding while also having disagreements about finances.

The show also included dedications to Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, and Kevin Turen at the end, honoring their contributions to Euphoria.

Kevin Turen, an executive producer for the show Euphoria, passed away on November 12, 2023, at 44 years old. He had a heart attack while driving.

Turen has worked on many films, such as That Awkward Moment, Those Who Wish Me Dead, Antlers, and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. He’s also known for the popular horror series X, Pearl, and MaXXXine.

After working together on the movie Assassination Nation, he and Sam Levinson teamed up for the hit show Euphoria and, more recently, the 2023 series The Idol.

At the premiere of Euphoria Season 3, Levinson explained the delay between seasons two and three. While the strikes and busy actors played a part, the biggest challenge was finding a way to honor the cast and crew members they had lost – Angus Cloud, Kevin Rooney, and Eric Gordon.

Angus Cloud and Eric Dane dedications explained

The episode included tributes to Angus Cloud and Eric Dane, both well-known actors.

Angus Cloud, known for his role as Fezco on the show Euphoria, tragically passed away on July 31, 2023, at 25 years old due to a drug overdose.

Even though Cloud’s character is gone, Fez returns in Season 3. We see characters talking to O’Neill on the phone while he’s serving time in prison.

Man, losing Angus really hit me hard. I cared about him a lot, and I did everything I could to help him get clean. It’s just… it’s crazy to think that in 2023, he was one of over 73,000 people in the US who died from a fentanyl overdose. It’s a really messed up situation.

That year taught me many things, but the biggest lesson was that understanding death helps us appreciate life. It really humbled me and made me realize how amazing and precious life truly is – a gift to be grateful for.

Actor Dane played the character Cal Jacobs in the show Euphoria. He passed away on February 19, 2026, at 53 years old, due to respiratory failure caused by ALS.

Dane has been in shows like Charmed and Grey’s Anatomy, and he recently played the bad guy in the movie Bad Boys: Ride or Die.

I was stoked to see Jacobs show up in Season 3! Cal actually had a bunch of scenes in Episode 3, and it’s dropping on April 26, 2026 – mark your calendars!

The first episode of Euphoria Season 3 is now streaming on HBO. You can find more new TV shows releasing this month here.
