Spurs’ NBA 2K25 ratings that are 100% wrong

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours logged into NBA 2K series under my belt, I can confidently say that the ratings for this year’s edition have left me somewhat divided. On one hand, I appreciate the recognition of young talents like Victor Wembanyama and his well-deserved upgrade to a 91 overall rating. However, on the other, I find myself scratching my head at the seemingly underappreciated performances of San Antonio Spurs’ Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but be thrilled about the launch of NBA 2K25! This latest installment has once again ignited discussions around player ratings, and it’s no secret that the San Antonio Spurs’ prodigy, Victor Wembanyama, has received an exceptional upgrade. His new rating not only catches my attention but sets a fresh benchmark for second-year players within this iconic franchise’s history.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that last season’s exceptional rookie, Victor Wembanyama, has seen his rating skyrocket to an impressive 91 overall! This incredible leap from his starting score of 84 not only positions him as a star among his contemporaries but also sets a new record as the highest-rated second-year player in NBA 2K history. What an exciting time for basketball enthusiasts like me!

During the NBA 2K Community Day, as reported by The Sporting News, Ronnie 2K, the Digital Marketing Director for 2K Games, stated that this second-year player has earned the top rating, following the highest rating given to a first-year player. At no point has he fallen short of expectations.

Although Wembanyama is rightly highly rated, the evaluations given to his teammates, Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson, do not accurately represent their on-court play.

Devin Vassell makes a strong case for an 84 overall rating

Spurs’ NBA 2K25 ratings that are 100% wrong

2K25 has given San Antonio Spurs’ guard Devin Vassell, known for his sharp shooting, a more modest 81 rating compared to the impressive season he had last year. Despite averaging 19.7 points and 4.1 assists per game, while also maintaining a field goal percentage of 47.2% and a three-point percentage of 37.2%, Vassell has been labeled as a “2-Way 3-Level Threat” in the game. His top attributes include a 95 for close shots, offensive consistency, and ball handling. However, his significant on-court success, versatility, and the four shooting badges he possesses, including a gold middy magician, seem to not fully reflect his impact, leading some to believe he deserves an overall rating of 84 instead.

Keldon Johnson needs to be an 82 overall

In NBA 2K25, Keldon Johnson maintains an overall rating of 80, the same as last year but lower than his 82 rating in NBA 2K22. Despite this, Johnson had a standout season where he averaged 22 points per game, and more recently posted solid numbers with 15.7 points and 5.5 rebounds, while shooting 45.4% from the field. These stats indicate that his current rating may not accurately represent his abilities.

NBA 2K25 Spurs roster evaluations show fair assessments amidst rating controversies

As a longtime basketball enthusiast with extensive knowledge of the NBA and its players, I must say that the evaluation of the rest of the Spurs roster seems to be well-balanced, taking into account each player’s unique skills and contributions to the team. In particular, the acquisition of veteran point guard Chris Paul by the Spurs has sparked my interest, as I have closely followed his career since he first entered the league.

With the launch of NBA 2K25, the player ratings are bound to spark discussions among enthusiasts and participants, focusing on the question of whether in-game stats align with actual on-court performances. The differences in players’ ratings, notably those of Vassell and Johnson, underscore the ongoing difficulties sports simulation games face when trying to strike a balance between simulating player growth and reflecting real-time performance data.
