Star Wars Outlaws Is Being Livestreamed A Week Before Official Release

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu when it comes to Star Wars Outlaws‘ leaked gameplay on Kick. It seems that the cat-and-mouse game between developers and leakers has taken a turn for the digital wild west.

On the livestreaming service Kick, gameplay of Star Wars Outlaws has been streamed a full week before its official release, which doesn’t come out until August 30.

According to Reddit users, the account “thisisnotanaccount” (which is not a regular account) has intermittently turned their live stream on and off over the past day. As of now, this account hasn’t been banned. Viewers have discussed that the gameplay shown could potentially reveal major spoilers for the storyline. Footage from the stream has been widely shared on platforms like TikTok.

Streaming platforms like Twitch and YouTube have promptly responded to such situations by either temporarily banning accounts or implementing swift actions to address them. There’s even a dedicated Twitter/X account that keeps users informed about which Twitch users have been banned, along with timestamps. In contrast, Kick has stated that they will terminate accounts following repeated violations and ban individuals and accounts for more severe infractions, as per their community guidelines. However, since the leaker’s account remains active, with over 20 followers, it appears that Kick may not view this individual’s actions as causing “severe violations” at this time.

It’s not the first instance that gameplay for the Star Wars Outlaws has been illegally leaked online. A few months back, a nearly 15-minute clip of the game’s footage appeared on YouTube before it was quickly removed by Ubisoft. Many viewers reported that the video contained minimal storyline spoilers.
