John Turturro On His Role In Pedro Almodóvar’s ‘The Room Next Door’ and His Own Directing Career

As a film enthusiast with years of experience under my belt, I find it truly inspiring to witness the recognition bestowed upon John Turturro at this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival. His career achievements are nothing short of remarkable, and it was a privilege to see him receive the Heart of Sarajevo Award.

Turturro, on his inaugural trip to Sarajevo, detailed his exploration of diverse religious landmarks such as several mosques, the Jewish Museum, Grand Synagogue, and a Jewish cemetery, in addition to other notable historic spots.

Actor John Turturro, known for his roles in two of this season’s most buzzworthy movies at the fall film festival, talked about portraying Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton’s ex-boyfriend in Pedro Almodóvar’s upcoming English movie, “The Room Next Door.” He plans to attend Toronto to promote that film as well as Sean Ellis’s “The Cut.”

Turturro pointed out the benefits of maintaining a long-term collaboration with a movie director, stating that it’s particularly advantageous as it fosters mutual trust between parties.
