8BitDo Launches Official Xbox And PC Accessibility Controller With Unique Design And Friendly Price

As a seasoned gamer with decades of thumb-blistering, controller-grasping experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Microsoft and 8BitDo have truly outdone themselves this time. The 8BitDo Lite SE controller is an absolute game-changer for me, a die-hard retro gaming enthusiast who’s always on the hunt for that perfect, responsive button press. With its low-resistance face buttons and oversized Dual Super Buttons, it’s like they’ve read my mind!

At Gamescom, Microsoft not only unveiled several major game releases, but also took time to spotlight their accessibility efforts, one aspect being the introduction of four new products. In collaboration with a renowned third-party controller maker, 8BitDo, Microsoft has developed a fresh wireless Xbox and PC controller, which is now available at Amazon. This latest offering from 8BitDo, called the 8BitDo Lite SE, boasts 12 swift-response face buttons and large, detachable Dual Super Buttons, similar to those on their popular retro keyboards, making them easy to press in intense gaming situations. Just like other 8BitDo controllers, the affordability of the Lite SE is a highlight, with a price tag of only $60.

Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Adaptive Joystick, a single joystick designed to work with the Xbox Adaptive Controller. This device is slated for release in early 2025 at a price of $30. On the other hand, there’s the Proteus Controller, an advanced and highly customizable gadget priced at $299, supporting over 100 million unique configurations.

8BitDo has made Xbox-licensed products before, and their latest offering is the 3-Mode Ultimate Controller for Xbox. This controller comes with its own charging station, uses Hall Effect joysticks and triggers, and can be used wired on Xbox and wirelessly on PC and mobile devices. As a Prime member, you can get it for $55 (originally $70).

If you’re not keen on getting a fresh gamepad but wish to enhance accessibility in your gaming space, check out the recently unveiled 3D printable adaptive thumbstick overlays from Xbox. These can be accessed through the Xbox Design Lab and are compatible with the Xbox Wireless Controller, Elite Series 2, and Adaptive Joystick.
