One Piece Season 2 Role Linked To Jamie Lee Curtis Goes To Another Actress

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for anime adaptations, I must say that the casting choices for One Piece Season 2 have me quite intrigued! Katey Sagal, known to many as the tough-as-nails Gemma Teller Morrow from Sons of Anarchy, stepping into the shoes of Dr. Kureha? Count me in!

Following the debut of One Piece Season 1 on Netflix, there was a strong fan campaign to have Jamie Lee Curtis play Dr. Kureha. She expressed interest and even pledged to advocate for the role after the 2023 actors’ strike concluded. However, it was recently disclosed that Curtis did not secure the role of Dr. Kureha and she won’t be present in Season 2 due to scheduling conflicts. In her place, Katey Sagal has been chosen for the part in the upcoming season.

Viewers might be familiar with Sagal due to her appearances on FX’s Sons of Anarchy, Futurama, and The Conners. However, she initially gained notoriety through her role in Married with Children, a popular sitcom from Fox’s early days. In the series, Sagal portrays Dr. Kureha, the head of Isshi-100 Drum Island and an ally to the Straw Hat Pirates.

Furthermore, Mark Harelik, who starred alongside Harris in Presumed Innocent, has been added to the cast as Dr. Hiriluk. Interestingly, the name Hiriluk is almost identical to that of the actor himself. Prior to his tenure on Drum Island, Dr. Hiriluk was known for being a thief in his previous life.

The remaining characters joining Season 2 are: Brendan Sean Murray playing Brogy, Callum Kerr portraying Smoker, Camrus Johnson taking on the role of Mr. 5, Clive Russell as Crocus, Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Jazzara Jaslyn for Miss Valentine, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, Ty Keogh as Dalton, and Werner Coetser as Dorry.

At the moment, production for One Piece Season 2 is taking place in South Africa, with a projected release date on Netflix sometime in the upcoming year.
