Anya Taylor-Joy to Star in ‘How to Kill Your Family’ Series Adaptation at Netflix

As a movie aficionado with a penchant for intriguing narratives and captivating performances, I find myself utterly enthralled by the news of Anya Taylor-Joy‘s upcoming role in “How to Kill Your Family.” Having first caught my attention in the enchanting world of chess with “The Queen’s Gambit,” her return to Netflix promises a thrilling ride.

Actress Anya Taylor-Joy, known for her breakout role in “The Queen’s Gambit” on Netflix, will be back on the streaming platform to play the lead in a TV series based on Bella Mackie’s popular book “How to Murder Your Family.”

In the recently unveiled eight-part television show, revealed during the Edinburgh TV Festival on Wednesday, Emma Corinne Taylor-Joy has been cast as the ruthless main character named Grace Bernard, who commits murders.

“Grace comes from a complex family background. Her father is Simon Artemis – a wealthy and relentless social climber who denies knowing about Grace’s existence due to an affair. Growing up, Grace and her mother had to struggle on their own. After her mother passes away and Grace finds herself abandoned by those who should have supported her, she channels her anger into a constructive outlet: eliminating members of her distant family in unique, macabre ways. Pursuing revenge and a substantial inheritance, Grace’s quest only pushes her further away from what truly matters.”

“The series titled ‘How to Kill Your Family’ represents the initial teamwork between Netflix and Sid Gentle Films Ltd, who are also known for producing ‘Killing Eve’. Emma Moran, famously known for ‘Extraordinary’, takes on the role of lead writer and executive producer. Additionally, Taylor-Joy serves as an executive producer under her LadyKiller Productions Inc. Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger, and Lee Morris serve as executive producers for Sid Gentle. Mackie is a co-executive producer.”

“Upon finishing the final page, Taylor-Joy expressed her eagerness to contribute to the realization of this tale. After doing a little investigative work on the talented Bella Mackie, she couldn’t be happier about working with Sally, Lizzie, and Emma’s team. She’s excitedly anticipating the opportunity to roll up our sleeves together.”

Mackie remarked, “It’s been exhilarating to see the characters I created come alive under this talented creative team. Anya is an ideal choice for playing Grace; at times, I feel she understands her character better than I do. Working with Sid Gentle has been a pleasure, and meeting Emma has given me great faith that my book is in capable hands.”
