As a seasoned movie enthusiast with a penchant for gripping crime thrillers and captivating characters, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming Sky Original series “Under Salt Marsh.” The combination of Kelly Reilly‘s exceptional acting skills and Claire Oakley’s compelling narrative promises an unforgettable viewing experience.
Actor Kelly Reilly, best known for her role in “Yellowstone”, has been chosen to headline a brand-new television series on Sky Originals, which was conceptualized by Claire Oakley.
Titled “Beneath the Salt Marsh,” this six-episode series is characterized as an intense, suspenseful crime drama unfolding in the fictitious Welsh coastal town of Morfa Halen, a picturesque locale sandwiched between towering mountains and an advancing sea.
Reilly will play detective turned teacher Jackie Ellis.
I’m involved as a key player in the creation of this show, serving as a co-writer, executive producer, and lead director. The production is a joint effort between Little Door Productions and Sky Studios. Alongside me, Jonathan Harbottle and Nikita Lalwani contribute their writing talents, while Mary Nighy takes charge of directing episodes three and four.
In a small coastal town, I, Jackie Ellis, a teacher formerly known for my work as a detective, find myself confronted with an unsettling discovery: the lifeless body of one of my 8-year-old students, Cefin, who appears to have drowned. This grim event echoes ominously across our community, stirring memories of an unsolved mystery that haunts us – the disappearance of my beloved niece, Nessa, three years ago. The eerie similarity threatens not only our peace but also the career I once had.
“The demise of Cefin calls Detective Eric Bull, Jackie’s ex-partner, back to Morfa Halen to manage the inquiry into a place where he previously faltered. They both suspect these cases are connected, so Jackie and Bull must patch up their differences and work swiftly to unearth secrets hidden within Morfa, before the impending storm erases all evidence forever.”
The show will begin filming later this year.
